Kevin Owens Says The WWE Discussed Idea For Him To Face The Undertaker at WrestleMania 32 ’til Shane McMahon Came Back

Kevin Owens almost battled the Deadman on the grandest stage of them all.

Before he was scheduled to compete in a ladder match for his WWE Intercontinental Championship that included the likes of Stardust, Sami Zayn, The Miz, Sin Cara, Zack Ryder (Matt Cardona) and Dolph Ziggler (Nic Nemeth). Kevin Owens almost had a battle with the Phenom of the WWE.

In a conversation with WrestleSphere, Owens said the WWE originally pitched the idea before changing their plans as soon as Shane McMahon came into the picture for the match with the Undertaker.

“I think things just shifted and that was the year that Shane McMahon returned, so obviously at the time, my standing in the company compared to Shane McMahon coming back after all those years, the thought was probably ‘Shane McMahon versus The Undertaker is a huge match. I know it was on the table and it was heavily discussed and it would have been amazing. My first WrestleMania, to be in there with The Undertaker, would have been sweet. It didn’t happen, but I’ve been in the ring with him. I was actually in the ring with him in the main event of a Madison Square Garden show, so I got to do that with him which was really cool,” Owens told Joe Baiamonte

Owens has had an incredible back-to-back years at WrestleMania as of late. From being in a match with Steve Austin at WrestleMania 38 to teaming up with Zayn to defeat the Usos in the main event of night one of WrestleMania 39 last year. He is now scheduled to take on Randy Orton and the WWE United States Champion, Logan Paul at WrestleMania 40.
