Matt Hardy Reportedly a Free Agent
Matt Hardy is no longer under contract with All Elite Wrestling.
According to Fightful Select, Matt Hardy has wrapped up with AEW and as of January 7, is no longer under contract with the company.
“As of today, Matt Hardy is no longer with AEW.
Word within the company was that his contract had actually been extended for a few weeks through WrestleMania. We weren’t given a reason why, and don’t know of any injury time that Matt Hardy missed, as he still appeared on TV after his concussion years ago on AEW PPV. However, we’ve learned that Hardy and AEW had talks and Hardy had told those close to him that he was allowing his deal to lapse after not signing a deal offered to him.”
– Fightful Select on Matt Hardy’s Contract Status
Matt Hardy last appeared on All Elite Wrestling programming during the January 5 episode of ‘AEW Rampage’ in a winning effort alongside his brother, Jeff Hardy as well as Mark Briscoe against Kip Sabian, The Butcher, and The Blade.
BodySlam will provide any updates on Matt Hardy’s contract status as they become available.
