Exclusive: Top Free Agent Tag Team Finalizing Deal With AEW
Two top free agents are now off the market.
The Motor City Machine Guns, Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin, became free agents this month after their contracts with TNA wrapped up at the end of March, last competing as part of the March 23rd, 2024 set of television tapings which took place in Philadelphia.
There had previously been hopes within TNA that the Motor City Machine Guns would re-sign with the company, however it was reported that the general belief was that the duo was expected to land in All Elite Wrestling, which now appears to be the case.
After speaking to sources, I can now confirm that the Motor City Machine Guns are headed to AEW. Sources have told me that AEW and The Motor City Machine Guns are working on finalizing a deal. It was noted that the deal is not going to be finalized for a bit. However, the decision has been made and a deal will be worked out.
The Motor City Machine Guns have held the TNA World Tag Team Championships on three occasions, and are also former Ring of Honor World Tag Team Champions. The two have also both held the TNA X-Division Championship, Chris Sabin a total of 10 times, and Alex Shelley once. Both are also former TNA World Heavyweight Champions, with Chris Sabin holding the title twice, and Alex Shelley being a once time champ. Sabin and Shelley have also held the New Japan Pro Wrestling IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Championships, and the Strong Openweight Tag Team Championships. The MCMG are also former Game Changer Wrestling World Tag Team Champions.
