On April 23rd, Pro Wrestling NOAH superstar Jake Lee made a surprise appearance at the New Japan Pro-Wrestling Road To Wrestling Dontaku event and attacked Tetsuya Naito during his match with Drilla Moloney. Lee aligned himself with the BULLET CLUB War Dogs and was added to the NJPW Road To Wrestling Dontaku main event on April 27th as he teams with David Finlay, Gabe Kidd, Drilla Moloney, & Clark Connors to face LIJ’s Tetsuya Naito, Yota Tsuji, Shingo Takagi, BUSHI & Hiromu Takahashi.

Following that surprise appearance, there was speculation brewing throughout the world of professional wrestling that Lee was leaving NOAH to become an official member of the NJPW roster. Social media was abuzz with fans wondering about the status of Lee in NOAH and NJPW.

Lee, having fun with all the speculation, addressed the crowd after his April 26th Pro Wrestling NOAH match saying that it was the last time he would wrestle in a NOAH ring. The crowd apparently did not take to kindly to that “announcement” as Lee immediately denied he would be leaving NOAH. Backstage, Lee assured everyone that he was just joking and will not be leaving NOAH for NJPW.

It was a joke I told in the ring, and I don’t know if the audience really believed it. But I didn’t miss the fact that many people’s eyes were on point. It was just a joke, a GLG joke. I always think there has to be humor in the tension.
