Gable Steveson Expected To Make Jump To NFL After WWE Release
Fans were taken aback when Gable Steveson, the celebrated Olympic Gold Medalist, was released from WWE. However, Steveson has no intention of remaining idle at home; he is now setting his sights on the gridiron.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Steveson had a meeting and tryout with the Buffalo Bills on May 15. This marks just the beginning, as he is expected to meet with several other NFL teams in the near future.
Despite this promising development, there are reservations about Steveson’s prospects in professional football, especially given his lack of experience playing the sport at a high level. Unlike Carleton Haselrig, Brock Lesnar, and Stephen Neal, who all garnered significant NFL interest due to their wrestling prowess despite not playing college football, Steveson has never even played high school football.
It was noted that while Haselrig, Lesnar, and Neal each had high school football experience to bolster their athletic resumes, Steveson’s journey into football remains unprecedented and challenging. Given these circumstances, it might be argued that Steveson’s potential success could be greater in the realm of MMA rather than the NFL.
We will keep our eye on Steveson to see if he has any chance in the NFL. His time in WWE did not turn out the way anyone thought it would.
