Adam Copeland Says His Kids Are His Legacy, Not Professional Wrestling
Adam Copeland believes his blood is his legacy.
With three decades of pro wrestling under his belt, Adam Copeland (FKA Edge in WWE) has made many memories throughout his run, even after his retirement in 2011 when he suffered what appeared to be at the time, a career-threatening neck injury. The Rated-R Superstar returned at the 2020 Royal Rumble in a moment many fans never saw coming and after he departed from the WWE, he has been able to rewrite and put together his own perfect story before the end is here.
On an episode of Close Up w/ Renee Paquette, Copeland, who is the current AEW TNT Champion had this to say about his legacy in professional wrestling and how he wants his children to remember him.
“You know, it’s interesting. Some people will say, ‘What do you want your legacy to be?’ I’ve always said, ‘I don’t really buy into the whole ‘legacy’ thing,’ you know, because we’re jumping around in tights. The people who make the videos and put the packages together and the bookers are who decide your legacy, so I don’t really buy into it. My legacy is, ‘Am I raising good kids?’ So for me more than anything, it’s just, ‘Did I work hard?’ That’s it,” said Copeland. “I think my surgeries let me know that I have. More than anything, ‘Did I help?’ and ‘Did I work hard?'”
Copeland retained his AEW TNT Championship in a barbed wire steel cage match against Malakai Black at AEW’s Double or Nothing PPV, had Copeland lost, he would have had to join the House of Black.
