Becky Lynch Taking Long Break From Pro Wrestling After WWE Contract Expires
Becky Lynch has dominated the headlines this week as her future in the pro wrestling business remains uncertain. One major talking point has been the possibility of Lynch joining AEW following her expected hiatus from WWE when her contract expires on June 1. Chris Jericho recently addressed this speculation.
However, reports indicate that Lynch is not expected to go to AEW. She wrapped up her WWE commitments on Monday’s episode of Raw, where she lost to Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan in a steel cage match.
While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that Lynch won’t be away for just a short period; she is planning an extended leave. Meltzer said, “Becky Lynch did not renew. Becky Lynch is taking an extended leave. From what I was told, it’s not like a short period of time. She was looking for a long period of time out. If he’s [Seth Rollins] not on the road, it makes sense for her not to be on the road. They can’t be hurting for money or anything where they need it right now, and maybe she’s looking at other things, and maybe she’s not.”
As of now, Lynch has yet to comment on the expiration of her WWE contract. After her recent cage match loss on Raw, she tweeted, “to be continued…” Fans will have to wait and see what’s next for the likely future WWE Hall of Famer.
