Chad Gable: I Flatlined As A Babyface Around WrestleMania XL

Chad Gable knew a change was needed.

In the build to this year’s WrestleMania two-night event, Chad Gable had multiple opportunities throughout the year to win the WWE Intercontinental Heavyweight Championship from Gunther. However, no matter how hard he tried, things just did not go his way, instead, he helped Sami Zayn conquer the champion at the grandest stage of them all which did not help Gable’s happiness at all.

Gable would go on to turn his back on Zayn in the champion’s hometown of Montreal Canada, an ide that Gable says he thought of weeks in advance after feeling like he flatlined as a babyface.

“The whole idea to turn heel was kind of my idea,” Gable told The Gorilla Position“I felt like I flatlined as a babyface somewhere around WrestleMania. I came up short against Gunther a few times. Came up short against Sami. At a certain point, something has to change, or people are not going to buy into you any further. I had the idea, ‘Let’s do it,’ it just so happened we were going to be in Montreal, Sami’s hometown, the week after Mania when I was having that match. I was like, ‘there could not be a better place to do this thing.’ We made it happen and the stars aligned. I feel like it’s worked out in our favor. Since then, Otis is this perfect sympathetic guy that you can’t help buy feel bad for. We have everything in our favor working for us.”

Gable was unsuccessful at Clash at the Castle against Zayn for the Intercontinental Championship in his final attempt at the title, now, he is focused on winning the Money in the Bank match and avoiding any type of murder sentence from the Wyatt Sick6.
