AEW aired their 51st episode of Collision live in Buffalo New York & its the go home Collision before Forbidden Door.
Tag Team Match
TMDK (Robbie Eagles & Shane Haste) vs. Chaos (Tomohiro Ishii & Orange Cassidy)
Shane Haste & Orange Cassidy started off and exchanged moves until Cassidy tags out to Tomohiro Ishii.
Chaos got the better of TMDK then Robbie Eagles tags in and hits some takedowns on Cassidy.
Cassidy retaliated and rolls Eagles up for a near fall then Cassidy slams Eagles’ head into the turnbuckle 10 times.
Eagles played dizzy to distract referee Aubrey Edwards allowing Haste to slam Cassidy’s back on the apron. Eagles dove onto Cassidy on the floor as the show went to a picture in picture break.
After the break TMDK works over Cassidy before Cassidy kicked Eagles into Haste and made the hot tag.
Ishii cleaned house before both teams exchanged moves with Cassidy missing an Orange Punch but hitting a Stun Dog Millionaire. Cassidy hits Beach Break on Eagles for the win.
Winners: Chaos
A Hangman Page video aired. It was in black and white and showed flashbacks of when Swerve Strickland broke into his house and spoke to his baby son in his crib. The video showed Page drinking and sitting on the floor in an empty living room. It also looked like he knocked over a picture of him with the Young Bucks & Cody Rhodes then the song spoke about the End of Days.
After the break The Learning Tree were shown walking backstage. FTW Champion Chris Jericho talked about Buffalo being the 79th biggest city in the world. They ran into an enhancement talent and Jericho asked him who taped his wrist. The talent said the trainer and Jericho said it was done wrong. They then ran into the trainer and Jericho said that you have to wrap the tape around the wrist 3 times so that it sticks. He then told Big Bill & Bryan Keith as a veteran tip to take a roll of tape from the trainer’s room so you don’t have to pay for it. Keith did that before joining the group.
Stephanie Vaquer vs. Lady Frost
Stephanie Vaquer gained the early advantage by locking Lady Frost in an STF hold.
Frost got to the ropes then Frost & Vaquer battled on the floor.
Frost did a handstand and was superkicked by Vaquer then Vaquer & Mercedes Mone had a staredown as we go to a break.
After the break Vaquer maintained the advantage.
Frost made a comeback and hit several offensive moves before Vaquer retaliated with a series of rapid headbutts then hits a Package Backbreaker for the win.
Winner: Stephanie Vaquer
After the match Vaquer stared down with Mone again. Zeuxis entered and attacked Mone from behind. Mone hit the backstabber on Zeuxis. Vaquer superkicks Mone and hits Package Backbreaker then holds up the TBS Title.
Lexy Nair was backstage with Lucha Bros & Alex Abrahantes. Titan & Hiromu Takahashi entered. Fenix informed them that PAC was concentrating on the Owen Hart Cup tournament and that their partner would be Mistico for the 1st time ever. Takahashi acted scared before acting exciting. Takahashi & Titan team with Yota Tsuji to face Lucha Bros & Mistico on the Forbidden Door Pre Show.
Serena Deeb vs. Kelly Madan
Match starts off with Serena Deeb & Kelly Madan lock up with Deeb backing her into the corner.
Deeb with a knife edge chop then Deeb connects with a neckbreaker across the middle rope.
Deeb hits a lariat then connects with Deebtox for the win.
Winner: Serena Deeb
After the match Deeb took the microphone and said that after failing to win the Women’s Title she refuses to go into wrestling purgatory and asked AEW to give her someone to wrestle that’s on her level. Riho came out and they had a staredown.
Chris Jericho was outside the men’s room and asked a staffer if he washed his hands as germs spread easy this time of year. The gentleman went back into the restroom as we go to a break
After the break The Learning Tree continued walking backstage. Bill commented that the arena was constructed well. Jericho said they play hockey here and he’s really good at it. They saw a Zamboni. Jericho gave the history of the invention of the Zamboni and said he wanted to make sure that the staff knew how to operate it properly. He opened a door and was attacked by Samoa Joe, Hook & Katsuyori Shibata.
Both teams fought to the ring. In the ring Jeff Cobb emerged and took out Shibata, Joe & Hook. Cobb was revealed to be Jericho’s partner at Forbidden Door.
A video aired previewing Orange Cassidy vs. Zack Sabre Jr at Forbidden Door.
Lexy Nair was backstage with Orange Cassidy & Cassidy said his world was crashing down around him and was ready to face the best technical wrestler in the world. He said he watched ZSJ’s match with Kyle O’Reilly on Dynamite and wondered why ZSJ wasn’t out there tonight. He said ZSJ didn’t respect him which prompted ZSJ to enter. He said he did respect him and that he didn’t need to watch the match tonight because he knew all of Cassidy’s moves. He said he waited a year to beat him to which Cassidy said that he’ll pin ZSJ with his hands in his pockets. ZSJ challenged him to do it now. Cassidy grabs ZSJ as Nair urged for them to stop. ZSJ said it was ok as he’d already won.
Kevin Blackwood vs. Hechicero
Hechicero quickly took Kevin Blackwood down and took control of his leg then pins Blackwood’s leg down and put him in an ankle lock.
He followed with wristlock before Blackwood got in strikes before Hechicero hit him with a knee in the corner. He took Blackwood to the mat and focused on his arm.
He put Blackwood in armlock and spun around before dropping him over the knee.
Hechicero put Blackwood in a triangle hold & Blackwood verbally taps out.
Winner By Submission: Hechicero
Lexy Nair was backstage with The Patriarchy & Nair said that it looked like Christian Cage was going after the Trios Titles. Cage said he was the uncrowned AEW World Champion and as such, The Patriarchy needed to be recognized with the 9 belts that come with Trios Titles.
Bullet Club Gold entered. Jay White said it was nice to meet Christian but said it wasn’t nice to lie to his family as he had said I Quit. He commented that it was tough to tell the wife and the dinosaur apart. In terms of Nick Wayne, he said it was too bad Mother Wayne had to drink so heavily during the pregnancy. White challenged them to a match if they’re up for it.
Daniel Garica vs. The Butcher
Daniel Garica & The Butcher battled back & forth early on until heading to the floor where The Butcher slams Garcia’s back onto the railing as we go to a picture in picture break.
After the break they exchanged blows before Garcia made a comeback but The Butcher no sold a pair of lariats and hit a big boot.
Garcia responded with a lariat that knocks The Butcher down and hits a piledriver for the win.
Winner: Daniel Garica
After the match Garcia & The Butcher shook hands and embraced.
Backstage Lexy Nair is with International Champion Will Ospreay and asked if his issue with AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland was personal. He said a little bit. The Don Callis Family enters. Callis said it would be just like when he helped Ospreay beat Kenny Omega. Ospreay reiterated that he didn’t need any help but asked Fletcher to accompany him for the weigh in tonight since Swerve will have his entourage out there. Callis said everything was fine and everyone was happy. Rush grabs Callis by the shoulder and they walked off as we go to a break.
After the break we go backstage where Lexy Nair is with Jack Perry. Perry said he never agreed to wrestle in the Trios Match tonight but would win the TNT Title at Forbidden Door. Christopher Daniels entered and said that if Perry didn’t wrestle tonight, he would lose his spot in the TNT Title Ladder Match.
Quarter Final Match Of The 2024 Women’s Owen Hart Cup
Deonna Purrazzo vs. Hikaru Shida
Both ladies end up on the floor before Hikaru Shida hits a knee strike but Deonna Purrazzo responded with a stomp to the arm and a pump kick as we go to a break.
After the break Shida made a comeback before Purrazzo locks in the armbar but Shida got to the ropes.
Shida hits a Falcon Arrow for a near fall followed by Katana Kick for the win.
Winner: Hikaru Shida (9:08)
Rate: 7
After the match Purrazzo continued to attack Shida until Thunder Rosa made the save.
A Jeff Jarrett promo aired with The Jarretts, Sonjay Dutt, Jay Lethal & Satnam Singh talking about how important the Owen Hart Cup Tournament is for him to win.
After the break Women’s Champion Toni Storm cut a rather incoherent backstage promo about how she will raise her title inside the Forbidden Door.
Trios Match
Konosuke Takeshita, El Phantasmo & Jack Perry vs. Mark Briscoe, Dante Martin & Lio Rush
Konosuke Takeshita took the advantage over Lio Rush before Rush retaliated and Mark Briscoe, Dante Martin & Rush works over El Phantasmo.
He countered on Martin and went to tag Jack Perry but Perry drops to the floor.
Briscoe hits a sliding dropkick on Perry as we go to a break.
After the break Phantasmo & Takeshita worked over Martin then Phantasmo & Takeshita began to shove each other. Martin hot tags Briscoe. Briscoe cleaned house.
Briscoe got a near fall on Phantasmo which was broken up by Perry then Rush & Martin each hit a frog splash on Phantasmo. The pin was broken up by Perry.
Briscoe threw Perry onto the floor but missed a dive then Martin & Takeshita battled in the ring.
Martin had Takeshita down and went to the top rope as Perry pushed Martin off the top rope.
Martin kicks Perry off the apron. While distracted this allowed Takeshita to hit a knee strike for the win.
Winners: Konosuke Takeshita, El Phantasmo & Jack Perry
After the match Perry knocks down Takeshita and took the TNT Title as Briscoe, Martin, Rush & ELP took turns with the TNT Title until Mark Briscoe knocked down Martin & Rush with the ladder. Briscoe climbed the ladder and held the TNT Title up high before diving on to everyone on the floor.
Prince Nana hosted the weigh in between International Champion Will Ospreay & AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland. Ospreay came out first with Kyle Fletcher. Ospreay weighed 220 lbs. Strickland came out with his entourage and weighed 230 lbs.
Ospreay said that tomorrow night Strickland would know his name. Strickland responded that the pressure is on Ospreay as he had never been to that level before. Strickland offered to give Ospreay’s wife a contract. They brawled which was broken up by security and officials. Ospreay hits Hidden Blade on Strickland to close out Collision.
