The Rock Says Sting And Randy Savage Were Two Names He Wanted To Face
The Rock wanted the Icon and the Macho Man in a match.
The Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment wanted to be part of the biggest matches of his career when it came to the other side of the Monday Night War. When it finally came time for WCW vs. WWF, it was the Rock who came to Vince McMahon with ideas on who he wanted to face when the time came for it.
“I remember sitting down in my hotel room and writing down all the wrestlers who I had hoped to wrestle,” said Dwayne Johnson, who also served as a producer of the VICE series. “Goldberg, Sting, [Randy] Savage, everybody in the nWo. I remember writing everybody down and going to Vince and saying, ‘Hey, this might be a good idea. What about this guy and this guy, and this guy and this guy, let’s bring them in.'”
The Rock would go on to battle Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania and Goldberg at Backlash in 2003. However, he was not able to battle the Icon, Sting or the ‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage.
