WWE Smackdown Review (July 5th)

WWE had the latest episode of Smackdown in Toronto Ontario Canada.

Kicking off this week’s Smackdown with Jey Uso says he’s in Toronto then says Money In The Bank is tomorrow night then asks fans who wants to see him be the new Mr Mon Yeet In The Bank.

LA Knight’s music hits and he makes his way down to the ring. Knight says he wants to talk to fans and says he liked Jey asking fans if they want to see him win the Money In The Bank briefcase. He says he can’t help but think Jey is the favorite in the Money In The Bank Ladder Match tmr and says Jey was able to break away from The Bloodline. He tells Jey that he’ll show him respect by showing him none at all and says while Jey hopes to hear fans say yeet tomorrow night, they’ll be saying yeah.

Carmelo Hayes’ music hits and he makes his way out. He says that while he hates to be that guy, he is that guy. He says no one wants to hear yeet or yeah then asks Knight how he’s doing and tells Jey that they have lots in common.

Chad Gable’s music hits and he makes his way down. He says that unlike everyone else competing in the Money In The Bank Ladder Match he’s been put through a living hell. He tells fans to have empathy for him with his Alpha Academy teammates leaving him and the Wyatt Sicks haunting him.

Speed Champion Andrade’s music hits and he makes his way out. He says that while everyone is dreaming of winning Money In The Bank, dreams don’t win matches.

Drew McIntyre’s music hits and he makes his way out. He says that CM Punk may not be here after fans cheer for him but his family always will be in the form of the bracelet he took to him. He says that the same violence he inflicted on Punk will happen to all his opponent in the Money In The Bank Ladder Match if they get in his way then takes jabs at Andrade, Gable, Hayes, Knight & Jey.

Andrade attacks McIntyre and fires off stomps that send him crashing out of the ring. Jey lands a superkick on Hayes and everyone begins brawling with one another. Jey & Knight take turns landing right hands on McIntyre and clothesline him out of the ring.

We then head backstage to Jackie Redmond is with Women’s Champion Bayley before Chelsea Green interrupts them and gets into a verbal confrontation with Bayley before Piper Niven attacks Bayley from behind.

Tag Team Match
Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford) vs. Pretty Deadly (Kit Wilson & Elton Prince)

Match starts off with Montez Ford & Elton Prince lock up before Ford hits a pair of mat returns on Prince and Kit Wilson tags in.

Ford hits an arm drag to Wilson then lands one on Prince and tags in Angelo Dawkins as Prince tags back in and lands an uppercut on Dawkins.

Dawkins responds with a series of right hands then lands a back elbow and clocks Wilson on the apron.

He hits a splash to Prince in the corner and connects with an enzuigiri but Wilson lands a jawbreaker on him off the top rope from the apron as we go to a break.

After the break Prince hits Dawkins with a clothesline and connects with a couple more in the corner.

He hits an uppercut and looks to land a splash but Dawkins avoids it. Wilson tags in and fires off right and left hands on Wilson. Prince & Ford tag in and Ford lands a boot on Prince’s midsection.

He fires off right hands on Prince’s spine then hits a clothesline to him and a flapjack on Wilson.

Ford hits a back suplex and a standing Shooting Star Press on Prince then ascends to the top rope but Prince catches him with an uppercut and tags in Wilson.

Dawkins makes the blind tag in and thinking he’s the legal man Pretty Deadly hits an assisted superplex to Ford. Dawkins flies off the top rope and pins Wilson but Prince breaks the fall.

Wilson is then sent crashing into Prince on the apron and Ford flies to level Pretty Deadly.

Ford gets Wilson back in the ring and Dawkins connects with a spinebuster on him before Ford tags back in and hits From The Heavens for the win.

Winners: Street Profits

Backstage WWE Tag Team Champions A Town Down Under had a conversation. Austin Theory said he thought about what Johnny Gargano said and Grayson Waller told him to forget what he said. He asked how many titles he won with Gargano and told him that it wasn’t until he did his own thing that he became 2x United States Champion and defeated John Cena. He told Theory they were on the same page and that they needed to focus on retaining their WWE Tag Team Titles as we go to a break.

After the break we then got a video recap of The Bloodline acknowledging Solo Sikoa and attacking Paul Heyman for his refusal. 

Tag Team Match
Bianca BelAir & Jade Cargill vs. Indi Hartwell & Candice LeRae

Jade Cargill lands a thrust kick on Indi Hartwell before Candice LeRae tags in and lands a step up senton on Cargill.

Hartwell tags back in and mocks Cargill by hitting her signature pose then continues wearing her down.

BelAir & LeRae tag in and BelAir lands a delayed vertical suplex on LeRae.

She lands a shoulder on her midsection then rains down right hands on her in the corner and connects with a spinebuster on an interfering Hartwell.

BelAir sends LeRae crashing on top of Hartwell then hits a springboard moonsault to LeRae.

Cargill tags in and LeRae rolls her up but Cargill kicks out and lands a pump kick then connects with Jaded on LeRae for the win

Winners: Bianca BelAir & Jade Cargill

After the match Cathy Kelley joins Cargill & BelAir in the ring. Cargill & BelAir put Women’s Tag Team Champions The Unholy Union on notice and warn them that they’re coming for the Women’s Tag Team Titles.

Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes asks Toronto what they want to talk about then says they could talk about WWE’s shows in Toronto between Thursday & Sunday. He says that himself, Randy Orton & Kevin Owens are ready for a fight against The Bloodline and Orton says that fight will end in an RKO. Owens says he could talk about the last 4 years fighting The Bloodline but says he’d rather talk about the last 4 days of his life. He recalls getting a phone call from his father on Monday morning informing him he had to go home to Quebec as his mother had been rushing to the hospital.

Owens says that he’s been in Quebec at the hospital his mother has been at since getting the call and says while shows in Toronto are always special for him, his mother and father won’t be able to come watch him at Money In The Bank. He says he could’ve easily stayed in Quebec but that would’ve been a problem for his mother because her and his father have supported him throughout his wrestling career. He says that his mother would be very upset if he missed a show for her and says win, lose or draw tomorrow, all he cares about tomorrow is to beat down The Bloodline worse than ever before.

Non Title Match
Women’s Champion Bayley vs. Piper Niven

Bayley wastes no time firing off right hands on Piper Niven then lands a few boots on Niven’s midsection but Niven levels her. Bayley slaps Niven but Niven returns the favor and lands a running senton on her.

Bayley lands a jawbreaker on Niven then hits a bulldog before Niven then sends Bayley crashing into the ring post head first as we go to a break.

After the break Tiffany Stratton marches down to ringside as Bayley looks to land Rose Plant on Niven.

Niven avoids it and Bayley responds with a neckbreaker as Naomi & Chelsea Green begin brawling on the outside and Iyo Sky, Lyra Valkyria, Zoey Stark, & Stratton all become involved.

Stratton hits a moonsault to the outside out of the corner.

Back in the ring Niven looks to land a Vader Bomb on Bayley but Bayley avoids it and hits Rose Plant for the win.

Winner: Women’s Champion Bayley

After the match Nia Jax attacks Bayley and hits a pair of leg drops to her. She sets up for A Nia Lator but Michin appears in the ring with a kendo stick in hand forcing Jax to retreat.

WWE Tag Team Titles Match
A Town Down Under (Austin Theory & Grayson Waller) (c) vs. DIY (Tommaso Ciampa & Johnny Gargano)

Grayson Waller & Tommaso Ciampa waste no time going after each other. Theory & Johnny Gargano become involved and both teams begin brawling with one another.

DIY then dumps A Town Down Under out of the ring and fly over the top rope to take them out with a crossbody as we go to a break.

After the break Gargano hits a standing splash to Theory and rains down right hands on him.

Waller tags in and ascends to the middle rope, then connects with an elbow drop on Gargano.

He sends him crashing into the turnbuckles then tags in Theory & Theory holds Gargano in place as Waller fires off right hands on him.

Theory hits a stomp to Gargano and gloats then fires off right hands on him and tags in Theory.

Waller dumps Gargano out of the ring and Theory looks to land a running knee on Gargano on the outside. Gargano moves out of the way and Theory is sent crashing into the barricade.

Waller looks to land an Alabama Slam on Gargano but Gargano counters it.

Theory levels Gargano and gets him back in the ring, but Gargano rolls him up.

Theory kicks out and Gargano connects with an enzuigiri, then looks to tag in Ciampa.

Waller pulls Ciampa off the apron before he can opening the door for Theory to hit a shoulder breaker to Gargano as we go to a 2nd break.

After the 2nd break Gargano lands a boot on Waller before Waller looks to clock Gargano but Gargano ducks out of the way and Waller hits Theory. Ciampa tags in and DIY hits Shatter Machine to Waller.

They look to follow it up with Meeting In The Middle, but Theory pulls Gargano out of the ring before #DIY can. Theory then lands a rolling dropkick on Ciampa & Waller follows it up with a Blockbuster.

Gargano tags in and DIY connect with Meeting In The Middle then Gargano pin Waller but Theory gets Waller’s foot on the bottom rope to break the hold.

Gargano locks in Gargano Escape on Waller & Waller looks to tap out.

Theory prevents him from doing so, but Ciampa locks in the Sicilian Stretch on him & A Town Down Under then both tap out.

Winners By Submission & New WWE Tag Team Champions: DIY (NEW CHAMPIONS!!!!)

We then head over to a video from The Bloodline where Solo Sikoa says Roman Reigns was not man enough to defend the Undisputed WWE Title and their family’s legacy to Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania. He declares himself as the new Tribal Chief once again and warns Cody Rhodes that he’s coming for his title to close out Smackdown.
