Exclusive: Deonna Purrazzo On Time Spent Wrestling For Stardom, Credits Chelsea Green For Putting Pieces In Motion To Go To Japan

Deonna Purrazzo talks about her time spent wrestling for STARDOM.

At the start of 2017, Deonna Purrazzo embarked on her first big journey overseas where she would spend the next year competing in Japan for Stardom where she would go on to clash in the ring with a couple of former NXT Women’s Champions in Shayna Baszler, Io Shirai, and Toni Storm, the current AEW Women’s Champion.

During an exclusive interview via the Irish Wrestling Podcast on behalf of BodySlam.Net with Mark O’Brien, Deonna Purrazzo spoke about her time spent wrestling in Japan for Stardom and how current WWE Superstar Chelsea Green helped put all the pieces in motion to make that happen.

I had such a great group of girls who, you know, I’ve been in every company with
so again, it was kind of one of those things that it was like, ‘I’m getting this
opportunity, I’m gonna do it.’ But for me, going to Japan was something as a wrestling
fan. I knew like if I’m going to be a pro wrestler, you go to Japan, if you want to be
at the top of your game, you want to be one of the best in the world? You go
to Japan, and my parents were super into me being a wrestling fan. So they got
me every book, every magazine, every whatever. And all of my favorites talked
about how much being in Japan influenced their career and where they got to, and where they were because of that. That was always a bucket list thing for me.

Chelsea Green had been there before me. We were one day talking about it. And
I don’t even know if at that point Chelsea and I had met in person yet, we were
online friends. And she’s the one who set all the pieces in motion to get me to go
to Japan. So I mean, it’s really like a collaborative effort between her and I to be able
to check that off for me and everything that I had read, it would feel like i made some of my best friends there. I was maybe 24 years old The last time I went, I had never been away from home, I didn’t go to college, I really treated that as like the first experience to get out and like live with new people and embrace a new culture and really grow as a human being. I got to grow in wrestling, which is really what I wanted. So it was like the best of all worlds. And I was really fortunate to get to go twice. Alongside Zoe Lucas, alongside Toni Storm, I was there for like a hot second during my first tour and just made really great memories that will last my entire life.

During her time in WWE, Chelsea Green would go on to win the WWE Women’s World Tag Team Championships alongside another former Stardom alumni, Piper Niven. Green also held the TNA Knockouts Tag Team Championships alongside Purrazzo for 56 days under the team name of VXT.
