NJPW G1 Climax Night 2 Results & Review (July 21st, 2024)

On July 21st, 2024 NJPW aired the 2nd Night of the G1 Climax tournament live in Osaka Japan inside Edion Arena in front of 2,545 fans & can watch the show on NJPW World.

Block A Match Of The 2024 G1 Climax
Sanada (0) vs. Callum Newman (2)

Callum Newman hits a running Mafia Kick then hits a dropkick on Sanada that sent him to the floor.

Newman missed a moonsault to the floor before Sanada immediately put Newman’s feet on the guardrail and hits a Magic Screw then drops Newman throat first on the guardrail and remained in charge.

In the ring Sanada hits a Russian leg sweep for a near fall.

Newman hit a double stomp on Sanada’s back and they were both down.

Sanada hits a 2nd Magic Screw then a Shining Wizard but he missed a moonsault.

Newman immediately hit a running knee to the jaw. He hit a dropkick into the corner.

Sanada applied Skull End but Newman turned it into Stundog Millionaire.

Newman went for an OsCutter but Sanada caught his head and hits Deadfall for the win.

Champion vs Champion Block B Match Of The 2024 G1 Climax
NEVER Openweight 6 Man Tag Team Champion Boltin Oleg (2) vs. NEVER Openweight Champion Henare (2)

Match starts off with a lock up and they switched to forearm strikes before Boltin Oleg drops Henare with a shoulder tackle and Henare rolls to the floor to regroup.

Back in the ring Oleg hit a Stinger Splash then a splash to the mat for a near fall.

Henare began hitting spin kicks to the thigh then one that caught Oleg in the throat.

Henare was now in charge and hit some kicks to the spine then a senton for a near fall.

Oleg hit a running bodyslam before Oleg hits a Vader Bomb for a near fall then hits a gutwrench suplex.

Oleg set up for Kamikaze but Henare escaped then hits a running knee to the sternum.

He set up for Rampage but Oleg caught him with a dropkick.

Oleg hits Kamikaze but Henare kicked out then Henare tried to locks in Ultima but Oleg escaped.

Henare hits a running headbutt then the Streets Of Rage for the win.

Champion vs. Champion Block A Match Of The 2024 G1 Climax
Strong Openweight Champion Gabe Kidd (0) vs. KOPW 2024 Champion Great O Khan (0)

Great O Khan hits a twisting uranage then a clothesline that sends Gabe Kidd over the top rope to the floor. They began fighting on the floor and into the crowd & Kidd bites O Khan’s forehead.

They returned to ringside where Kidd whips O Khan head first into the ring post.

O Khan tossed Kidd over the top rope to the floor then O Khan hit a plancha.

O Khan whips Kidd into rows of empty chairs and traps Kidd’s arms in the chairs.

Back in the ring both men were selling arm injuries before O Khan suplexed them both over the top rope to the floor and they were both down on the floor.

They got up and traded blows as the ref kept counting before they both sprinted back in to avoid being counted out. O Khan hits a head capture suplex for a near fall.

Kidd hits a short arm clothesline for a near fall.

O Khan caught him with a straight punch and both could barely stand so Kidd hits another clothesline for the win.

Block B Match Of The 2024 G1 Climax
El Phantasmo (0) vs. Ren Narita (0)

Ren Narita hits a running boot before El Phantasmo hits a springboard hurricanrana and he clotheslined Narita to the floor then he hit a plancha. Phantasmo hit a dive through the ropes onto Narita.

ELP missed a top rope moonsault to the floor before Narita immediately whips ELP into the guardrail and tied up the knee in the barricade. Narita went to get his push up bar but Jado confiscated it.

Narita kept working the leg, slamming ELP’s knee into the thin mat at ringside.

In the ring Narita focused on twisting the left leg and slamming on the damaged knee.

ELP hit a suplex before ELP couldn’t kip up to his feet before they traded forearm strikes.

ELP hit a springboard crossbody but his knee buckled when he went for a Lionsault.

ELP hit a tornado DDT on the floor and they were both down then back in the ring ELP was able to hit the Lionsault.

Narita hits a northern lights suplex and he grapevined the leg and he switched to a single leg crab but Phantasmo reached the ropes.

Narita stays in control and kept Phantasmo grounded before ELP grabs the push up bar.

Narita taunts ELP to hit him but ELP gave the weapon to Jado then Narita tried to hit Double Cross but ELP blocked it.

Narita hits a Guillotine for a near fall before ELP hit a Frankensteiner.

He then hits Thunder Kiss 86 for a near fall before Nartia hits a chop block to the knee then Double Cross for the win.

Jake Lee (2) vs. Evil (2)

Jake Lee uses Dick Togo’s wire to choke Evil then Lee did the Eddie spot of tossing the weapon to Evil and collapsing to the mat.

While Evil & the ref argued Lee snuck up and hit a high back suplex for a near fall.

Lee set up for a chokeslam but Evil escaped before Lee hits a chokeslam for a near fall.

Powder was thrown into Lee’s eyes & Evil immediately hit Everything Is Evil for the win.

Winner: Evil (4) (11:20)

Block B Match Of The 2024 G1 Climax
Hirooki Goto (0) vs. Yuya Uemura (2)

Hirooki Goto & Yuya Uemura traded forearm strikes while on their knees then chops while standing.

Goto hits a clothesline then a Death Valley Driver for a near fall and a series of roundhouse kicks to the chest. Uemura hits a headbutt then sets up for Deadbolt but Goto escaped.

Uemura hits Goto with Deadbolt Suplex for the win.

Winner: Yuya Uemura (4) (12:38)

Block A Match Of The 2024 G1 Climax
Shota Umino (0) vs. Shingo Takagi (2)

Shota Umino hits a running swinging neckbreaker then an enzuigiri before Shingo Takagi fired back with Pumping Bomber. He hits another then Made In Japan for a near fall.

Umino fired back with an implant DDT and they were both down. They got up and traded forearm strikes.

Umino hits an exploder suplex and a half nelson suplex then hits Blaze Blade to the back of the head for a near fall.

Takagi hits a headbutt before he charged again but Umino caught him and hits Death Rider for the win.

Winner: Shota Umino (2) (18:22)

Non Title Block A Match Of The 2024 G1 Climax
IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Tetsuya Naito (0) vs. Zack Sabre Jr (2)

Tetsuya Naito hits a modified blockbuster before Zack Sabre Jr locks in a Dragon Sleeper hold on the mat but Naito reached the ropes. ZSJ hits a running Penalty Kick.

Naito hits Destino and they were both down then ZSJ hits Zack Driver.

They traded roll ups before ZSJ got an O’Connor Roll for the win.

Winner: Zack Sabre Jr (4) (16:03)

Non Title Block B Match Of The 2024 G1 Climax
Global Champion David Finlay (0) vs. Yota Tsuji (0)

David Finlay immediately hits a Dominator for a near fall before Yota Tsuji fired back with a suplex.

He hits a Curb Stomp then a 2nd one for a near fall. Tsuji missed a top rope double stomp.

Finlay charged at him but Tsuji caught him with a knee strike to the head then slams Finlay to the mat.

Finlay avoids Gene Blaser and he hits Oblivion for a near fall.

Finlay hits a release powerbomb then a Buckle Bomb then another release powerbomb and they were both down. Finlay hit a discus clothesline and some forearm strikes.

Tsuji fired back with Gene Blaster then hits Marlow Crush for the win. 

Winner: Yota Tsuji (2) (19:50)
