NOAH announces Akitoshi Saito retirement event; return of Monday Magic
Big events scheduled for NOAH in the Fall.
At NOAH’s Destination PPV, an event which featured the celebrated return of AJ Styles to Japan, Go Shiozaki defeated Akitoshi Saito in a rematch for the ZERO1 World Heavyweight championship. Post-match, Saito paid his respect to the new champion, and announced that 2024 would be his final year as an in-ring competitor.
In a special press conference streamed live on YouTube, Pro Wrestling NOAH announced the date and venue for Saito’s special retirement event as well as the last appearances Saito will make for the promotion leading up to his retirement. The event, titled “Deathtiny,” will take place at Dolphins Arena in Nagoya, Japan. The five-time GHC Tag Team champion will also compete at NOAH’s two upcoming additions to their Go Shiozaki-promoted “Limit Break” series, “Limit Break ex.” from Yokohama and “Limit Break 4” from Tokyo. No matches, nor Saito’s final opponent, have been added yet, but all events will be streamed live on Wrestle Universe.
Akitoshi Saito has been a staple of the Pro Wrestling NOAH product since 2001, where he’s won the promotion’s GHC Tag Team championship with multiple partners as well as faced competitors such as Go Shiozaki, Kenta Kobashi, and Jun Akiyama.
In an article posted to their website and X account, NOAH announced the return of their “Monday Magic” series, a variety show streamed from Shinjuku FACE event hall in Tokyo, Japan. Monday Magic was started in October of 2023, and made a return for a second season in April of 2024. These events do not receive full card announcements, with appearances meant to be surprises, often featuring talent from other Japanese promotions such as DDT Pro Wrestling.
The show’s previous season held four events in the spring which would precede a PPV with a similar gimmick titled “Wrestle Magic”. Five episodes have been scheduled from October 21 through November 25.
