Rey Fénix Contract Is Set To Expire This Year
The year 2024 will be remembered for the contract moves that are happening.
The latest to join the list is Rey Fenix. As reported by Fightful reporter Sean Ross Sapp, his contract with AEW is set to expire this year. Earlier this year it was reported by multiple sources that Penta’s contract with AEW expires this year, and that he has interest from WWE. However, Sean Ross Sapp from Fightful Select reports that he is not the only one, as fellow Lucha Bros. teammate Rey Fenix also sees his contract expiring this year.
“Fenix’s contract with AEW is believed to be up this year,
@FightfulSelect has learned”

Those they have spoken to say that AEW wants to retain Fenix and Penta, and there were extended offers and contract talks. We have not heard how those talks have gone. Fenix, like Penta, is expected to have interest from WWE. Both men have been with All Elite Wrestling since 2019.
Rey Fenix made his AEW debut at the company’s inaugural Double or Nothing event on May 25, 2019. Along with his brother Penta El Zero Miedo, they formed the team known as The Lucha Brothers. Since their arrival, The Lucha Brothers have established themselves as one of the most exciting and dominant teams in AEW. They have had several notable rivalries, especially with The Young Bucks, with whom they have competed in multiple high-profile bouts.
One of the highlights of Rey Fenix’s AEW career was at All Out 2021, where he and Penta El Zero Miedo won the AEW World Tag Team Championship by defeating The Young Bucks in a Steel Cage Match. This match was acclaimed for its intensity and spectacularity, and is considered one of the best tag team matches in AEW history.
As a singles wrestler he has also won several titles, such as the AAA Megacampeonato, and the AEW International Champion, which he won against Jon Moxley at the last AEW Dynamite Grand slam in 2023.
In light of these contract developments, fans and wrestling enthusiasts eagerly await the outcome of Rey Fenix’s future in the industry. As speculation mounts regarding potential interest from WWE and AEW’s efforts to retain him, the wrestling landscape stands poised for a significant shift. With The Lucha Brothers’ established reputation as a dynamic and formidable tag team, the unfolding negotiations hold the promise of exciting new opportunities and challenges for Rey Fenix, paving the way for a compelling chapter in his wrestling journey.
