WWE Raw Results & Review (July 29th, 2024)

On July 29th, 2024 WWE aired the 1,627th episode of Raw live in St Paul Minnesota inside Xcel Energy Center.

-Kicking off this week’s Raw with Seth Rollins welcomes fans to Monday Night Rollins then introduces himself and says with SummerSlam only 5 days away, the match between Drew McIntyre & CM Punk is right around the corner. He says the 3 of them are in St Paul to lay out some rules and regulations then introduces Punk & McIntyre. Both men then make their way down to the ring.

-Rollins says he sees that there’s lots of tension between Punk & McIntyre then reminds them both that if they lay a finger on one another or him, the match at SummerSlam is off per Adam Pearce. Punk rolls out of the ring and McIntyre says that he knows Punk is scared of him. He assures Punk that he’ll control himself until Saturday.

-Punk says he’s not afraid of McIntyre or Rollins but rather what they’ll do him. Rollins intervenes and tells Punk he’s calling the shots then says he volunteered to be the special guest referee in their match because no one else would. He says he would relinquish that position then tells Punk to get back into his ring if he wants to face McIntyre like he and the rest of the WWE Universe want.

-McIntyre tells Rollins that their rivalry is professional and a desire to be the best. He says Punk is not what’s best for business, then tells Rollins that Punk is the real enemy. Rollins tells McIntyre that if anyone hates Punk as much as he does, it’s him. He then tells McIntyre that if anyone hates him as much as Punk, it’s also him. He tells McIntyre & Punk to quiet down in order for him to lay down the rules and regulations of their match.

-Rollins says he has only one rule and regulation: McIntyre & Punk listen to everything he says. He says he’s the boss on Saturday in their match then says he counts to three whenever he does, tap outs only count when he says so, count outs may not be valid after 10 and disqualifications may not count.

-Punk tells Rollins he hopes that he’s a better special guest referee than he dresses then warns him against screwing him out of the match and tells him that he doesn’t want his help. McIntyre tells Punk that he’s worried about the wrong person when he should be worried about him then tells him that he hates him. He says he can’t go anywhere without Punk’s name being shouted at him, then says he’s spent the last 7 months saying everything he has to. He says he wasn’t trying when he injured Punk’s triceps then asks Punk what will happen Saturday after everything he’s put him through. He says he’s not Punk’s enemy but rather the bell is on Saturday with the beating he’ll give him.

-Inside the Judgment Day clubhouse, Rhea Ripley, Dominik Mysterio, World Tag Team Champions Finn Balor & JD McDonagh & Carlito surveyed the damage that someone did. Ripley suggested to Mysterio that Liv Morgan was behind it and would pay for it at SummerSlam.

-After the break World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest showed up in the vandalized Judgment Day clubhouse and also assumed that Liv Morgan was responsible. Priest said he felt he should be in Finn Balor’s corner during his match with Gunther. Balor shot that down and said he would handle Gunther while they clean up the clubhouse.

-Balor hoped that they would take out Sami Zayn & Jey Uso. Priest said they handled that before and it felt like they were going backwards which Rhea Ripley agreed with. Dominik Mysterio suggested Carlito face Sami Zayn. Carlito said he would talk to Adam Pearce.

Tag Team Match
Creed Brothers (Julius & Brutus) vs. Alpha Academy (Akira Tozawa & Otis)

Julius Creed & Otis go after one another before Brutus Creed tags in and fires off right hands on Otis.

Julius tags back in but Otis runs over him and Brutus with a double shoulder tackle.

Akira Tozawa tags in and Otis helps him fly off the top rope with a crossbody.

Julius hits a delayed vertical suplex to Tozawa from a kneeling position then tags Brutus back in.

Julius sends Brutus crashing onto Tozawa but Tozawa lands a kick on his midsection.

He follows it up with a spinning roundhouse kick and an enzuigiri from the apron then ascends to the top rope and hits a missile dropkick.

He then flies and lands a tope suicida to Brutus on the outside then ascends to the top rope and flies.

Julius pulls Brutus out of the ring, and Brutus rolls over Tozawa with a clothesline as we go to a break.

After the break Otis tags in and runs over Julius with a pair of clotheslines.

He clocks him from behind then hits a spinning back elbow to him in the corner and sends him crashing into the ring post shoulder first.

Chad Gable hops up on the apron but Otis clocks him and hits a slam to Julius.

He lands an elbow drop on him and ascends up the ropes but Brutus lands a right hand on his spine.

Otis hits a back body drop to Brutus and clocks Gable on the apron but Creed Brothers hits a double superplex to him for the win.

Winners: Creed Brothers

-After the match Chad Gable yells at Otis and cinches in an Ankle Lock on Otis. Maxxine Dupri hops on Gable to prevent him from doing so, and Gable yells at her. Dupri slaps Gable and stands up for herself before the lights go out. Dupri, Otis & Tozawa quickly retreat as the Wyatt Sicks’ music echoes through the Xcel Energy Center.

-Gable & Creed Brothers prepare for the arrival of the group as Mercy The Buzzard, Ramblin’ Rabbit and Huskus The Pig Boy appear on the ramp. They march down to the ring and hop up on the apron then remove their masks to reveal Erick Rowan, Dexter Lumis & Joe Gacy. Sister Abigail then hits a crossbody off the top rope to Chad Gable as Gacy, Lumis & Rowan triple team on Creed Brothers. Rowan runs over Creed Brothers with a crossbody.

-Gable retreats up the ramp but Uncle Howdy’s silhouette appears. Gable immediately runs away from him as Uncle Howdy eerily laughs.

-After the break we go backstage where Carlito told Rhea Ripley & Dominik Mysterio that the match was made. Mysterio assumed Carlito was going to face Sami Zayn but Carlito thought Mysterio wanted to face Zayn. Ripley & Mysterio told Carlito that he was now free to face Jey Uso. Ripley said Carlito would have to handle Jey on his own.

Sheamus vs. Bronson Reed

Sheamus & Bronson Reed fire off right hands one another before Reed whips Sheamus into the corner and charges at him.

Sheamus locks Reed in a sleeper but Reed escapes and fires off a few chops on Sheamus in the corner.

Sheamus fights his way out and clotheslines Reed out of the ring then hits a clothesline to him off the ropes and celebrates.

Reed then hits a Samoan Drop to Sheamus on top of the announce desk as we go to a break.

After the break Sheamus lands an uppercut on Reed but Reed levels him and gets in his face.

Sheamus gets fired up and delivers a series of short arm clotheslines to Reed.

He runs the ropes and delivers a jumping knee then goes for a pin but Reed kicks out.

Sheamus then looks to get Reed up on his shoulders but Reed escapes and sends Sheamus crashing into the corner.

Sheamus ascends to the top rope and looks to fly but Reed intercepts him and connects with a Death Valley Driver.

He drags Sheamus into the corner and ascends to the top rope but Sheamus catches him with several right hands and joins him up there.

He hits a White Noise off the middle rope on Reed and goes for a pin but Reed manages to kick out.

Sheamus hits 10 Beats Of The Bodhran to Reed then lines up for the Brogue Kick.

As the referee untangles Reed from the ropes while Sheamus sets up for the move Pete Dunne appears out of nowhere and hits Sheamus with a shillelagh.

This opens the door for Reed to hit Tsunami to Sheamus for the win

Winner: Bronson Reed

-We get highlights of last week’s Damian Priest & Gunther segment.

-A video aired with comments from Priest & he played up his heart compared to Gunther having the best training and being told he’s the best. Priest recalls Gunther labeling him as street trash. He said that translates to Puerto Rican badass whereas Gunther is a European product of ingenuity. Priest said that translates to you’re an asshole. Priest said he lives to fight for what he has and is willing to die for everything he has. Priest asked if Gunther was willing to do the same.

-After the break we get a video package aired on the Sami Zayn vs. Bron Breakker for the Intercontinental Title.

-Breakker said he didn’t take Zayn seriously at Money in the Bank. Breakker said that’s on him. Breakker brought up Zayn’s comedy show and said it shows he is preparing for life after him and WWE. Breakker said the joke will be on Zayn and the Intercontinental Title will be on him.

Carlito vs. Jey Uso

Jey Uso clocks Carlito then goes for a pin right out of the gate but Carlito kicks out.

Jey then hits a tope suicida to Carlito on the outside and dumps him back in the ring before he lands a series of right hands on his head.

Carlito responds with a twisting neckbreaker off the middle rope as we go to a break.

After the break Jey lands a superkick and an open palm strike on Carlito.

Carlito responds with an over the shoulder cutter then dumps Jey onto the apron when he charges at him.

Jey rocks Carlito with an enzuigiri and looks to fly off the top rope but Carlito sees him coming and connects with a spinebuster.

Carlito grabs his green apple and takes a few bites out of it but the referee tells him to dispose of it.

Jey looks to take advantage but Carlito rolls him up. Jey then runs the ropes and hits a spear

Winner: Jey Uso

-Backstage Jackie Redmond interviewed Zelina Vega & Vega held her injured arm and spoke about how she was lucky to have help last week. Vega said she is a threat.

-Sonya Deville, Shayna Baszler & Zoey Stark showed up, causing Redmond to make her exit. Deville said they should show Vega what a threat is. Vega threw the first punch but she was quickly outnumbered. Deville & Stark held Vega against the door while Baszler booted Vega’s elbow.

-After the break we go backstage where a trainer checked on Zelina Vega while Kayden Carter, Katana Chance & Lyra Valkyria stood by.

-Backstage The Miz was interviewed by Cathy Kelley. Miz announced that he will be the host of SummerSlam in his hometown of Cleveland. R Truth shows up and said he thought Miz lived in Los Angeles. They went back & forth for a bit and Truth wondered if Miz would have party snacks. Miz agreed to bring hors d’oeuvres.

-Karrion Kross took the mic and asked Woods if he really believed that Kofi Kingston was injured again.

-Kross said Kingston skipped town because this match was about Woods and because no one wants to be in the hellhole that is Minnesota. Kross said he wanted Woods to join his faction and tell the little kids at home that the power of positivity was one big lie. Kross said he also wants Woods to tell Kingston he should have retired after he lost the WWE Title in just 6 seconds.

Xavier Woods vs. Karrion Kross

Xavier Woods goes straight after Karrion Kross having heard enough from him then sends him crashing to the outside as we go to a break.

After the break Kross hits a suplex to Woods and mocks him.

He lands a few boots on the side of his head, but Woods gets fired up and lands a series of chops on Kross.

He hits a flying forearm in the corner but Kross gets Woods up on his shoulders but Woods escapes and rolls up Kross but Kross kicks out.

Akam clocks Woods from the outside and Kross looks to take advantage but Woods lands a kick on him and delivers a tope suicida to Akam on the outside.

He sends Rezar crashing into the ring post then ascends to the top rope and looks to connect with Limit Break on Kross but Kross avoids it and hits The Final Prayer for the win.

Winner: Karrion Kross

-Footage aired from earlier in the day of Jesse Ventura speaking with Paul Levesque in the parking garage area.

-Jackie Redmond interviewed Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn & he recalls beating Breakker after having a comedy show prior to Money In The Bank. He brought up Breakker taking cheap shots at him every week. He said he gets it because Breakker is a young guy who wants to make a name for himself.

-Zayn said he would beat Breakker’s ass at SummerSlam and was off to take care of Dominik Mysterio. A camera followed Zayn as he walked through the back and made his entrance as we go to a break.

-After the break an emotional Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan stood in front of dumpster fire and cried about Dominik Mysterio while throwing photos and merch in the fire. Morgan said she will complete her revenge tour by beating Rhea Ripley and leaving whatever is left of her for Mysterio.

Non Title Match
Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn vs. Dominik Mysterio

Dominik Mysterio poses on the middle rope then hits a boot to Sami Zayn’s midsection and fires off right hands on him in the corner then slides out of the ring for a breather.

Zayn chases Mysterio back in the ring but dumps him back out and hits a springboard moonsault to him as we go to a break.

After the break Mysterio fires off a few stomps on Zayn and wears him down with a rear chin lock.

Mysterio connects with a back elbow on Zayn and follows it up with a tornado DDT out of the corner then goes for a pin but Zayn kicks out.

Mysterio then lands several right hands on Zayn’s head but Zayn runs him over with a clothesline and follows it up with a back elbow.

Zayn hits a double ax handle off the middle rope on Mysterio and looks to connect with a Blue Thunder Bomb but Mysterio avoids the move and lands the 3 Amigos.

He ascends to the top rope and looks to land a splash but Zayn moves out of the way and hits an exploder to Mysterio into the corner.

He looks to land Helluva Kick but Carlito & JD McDonagh appear at ringside.

Mysterio looks to roll up a distracted Zayn but Zayn kicks out.

He fires off strikes on Zayn and looks to roll him up again but Zayn counters into a back body drop.

He clocks McDonagh & Carlito on the apron but Mysterio dropkicks him into the ropes.

He looks to dial it up for a 619 but Zayn sees him coming and clocks him before he hits a Blue Thunder Bomb. He goes for a pin but McDonagh & Carlito break the fall causing the disqualification.

Winner By DQ: Intercontienetal Champion Sami Zayn

-After the match McDonagh & Carlito beat down Zayn. Jey Uso runs down to the ring and dumps Carlito out of the ring then hits a spear to McDonagh. He tosses Dominik out of the ring to join Carlito and McDonagh then flies to take out all 3 men. Bron Breakker then blindsides Zayn back inside the ring and runs the ropes. He looks to land a spear on Zayn but Zayn catches him with a boot. He then hits an exploder and sets up for Helluva Kick but Breakker rolls out of the ring before he can land it. Breakker then looks to attack Zayn from behind but Zayn sees him coming and sends him crashing back to the outside.

-Dexter Lumis was featured in the therapy session wearing dreadlocks and with an X painted on his forehead. Uncle Howdy asked what should they do when the buzzards start circling. Run Lumis replied.

-We then head backstage to Chad Gable & Creed Brothers. After claiming to be the one who figured out the remaining member of the Wyatt Sicks’ identities, he demands a 6 Man Tag Team Match where he & Creed Brothers face Erick Rowan, Dexter Lumis & Joe Gacy. Pearce makes it official.

-After the break Pat McAfee did his telestrator bit over video game footage of himself punting a football at Dominik Mysterio.

-Rhea Ripley held a black rose while delivering a promo as Liv Morgan footage was shown. Ripley said Morgan wants to break and burn things that don’t belong to her. Ripley said Morgan so badly wants to be the victim in her revenge tour fantasy but it’s just that, a fantasy. Ripley said there will be no more running, hiding or manipulating come SummerSlam.

-Ripley said she warned Morgan multiple times to stay out of her business. She said Morgan took 3 months of her career by injuring her shoulder and then took her Women’s World Title. Ripley said Morgan tried to manipulate her family and her Latino Heat. Ripley said she will get her revenge at SummerSlam.

6 Woman Tag Team Match
Lyra Valkyria, Kayden Carter & Katana Chance vs. Sonya Deville, Shayna Baszler & Zoey Stark

Match starts off with Lyra Valkyria & Sonya Deville lock up Deville hits a knee to Valkyria’s midsection before Zoey Stark becomes legal and hits a dropkick off the middle rope.

Valkyria targets Stark’s arm then tags in Katana Chance.

Chance & Kayden Carter then double team on Stark before Valkyria tags back in and hits a dropkick to Stark on the outside through the middle rope as we go to a break.

After the break Shayna Baszler tags in and fires off stomps on Valkyria in the corner.

Deville tags back in and fires off right hands on Valkyria’s midsection.

Valkyria catches Deville with a boot and looks to tag out but Deville prevents her from doing so.

Carter & Baszler tag in and Carter connects with a kick on Baszler’s head.

She fires off right and left hands on her then hits another kick to her head and a leg drop using the ropes for assistance. She goes for a pin but Baszler kicks out.

Stark tags in and looks to powerbomb Carter but Carter escapes with a hurricanrana and dumps Baszler out of the ring. Chance tags in and hits a codebreaker off Carter’s shoulders.

Valkyria plants Stark and pins her but Deville & Baszler come to Stark’s aid.

Chance tags in and looks for the After Party on Stark with Carter.

Baszler & Deville prevent them from landing the move opening the door for Stark to land Z360 on Chance for the win.

Winners: Sonya Deville, Shayna Baszler & Zoey Stark

-After the match Damage CTRL’s music hits and they make their way down to the ring. They attack Stark, Baszler & Deville before Iyo Sky hits Over The Moonsault off the top rope to them on the outside. Damage CTRL then stands tall in the ring.

-Footage aired of Gunther delivering a promo earlier in the day in the empty seats of the building. Gunther paced while saying Damian Priest took the easy way out for the 2nd time in a row and said he had the reaction of a weak man who has no control over his emotions. Gunther said he has exposed Priest as an emotional wannabe who abuses the business as a cure for his childhood trauma.

-Gunther turned his focus to the main event sand said he used to look up to Finn Balor. He said Balor is a World Tag Team Champion but he was once destined for greater things. He said Balor became street trash once he started hanging out with Judgment Day. Gunther said he looked forward to seeing how much of the old Balor he could pull out. Gunther closed by talking about how fans would never forget the day that he saved the sport by winning the World Heavyweight Title.

-After the break Cathy Kelley interviewed Damage CTRL & Dakota Kai said the only reason Deville’s crew has been running the place is because they have been gone. Kai said they would reestablish an order of things. Kai challenged Deville to a match for next week. She wondered how long Deville’s social club would last once she cuts the head off the snake.

-Dominik Mysterio was holding his shoulder while seated on a couch in the Judgment Day clubhouse. Ripley said she told the others this would happen. Balor said Ripley was right. He said they all got in this mess together. He said after SummerSlam, they would get out of the mess together.

-Ripley told Balor they would have his back if they needed him during his match with Gunther. Priest agreed. Balor said Ripley & Priest want to go it alone at SummerSlam and he wants to do the same. Balor wondered if they didn’t think he was good enough. They both denied that. Priest said he worried Gunther would try something. Balor said he would soften up Gunther and it was Priest’s job to finish him off at SummerSlam.

World Tag Team Champion Finn Balor vs. Gunther

Match starts off with a lock up before Finn Balor fires off a few chops on Gunther but Gunther hits Balor with one of his own and connects with a missile dropkick on him.

He lands a running knee on the side of Gunther’s face then fires off stomps on him then hits Balor with a boot as we go to a break.

After the break Gunther hits a bodyslam to Balor and locks in a Boston Crab.

Balor makes it to the bottom rope to break the hold but Gunther sits him on the top rope.

Balor fires off back elbows on Gunther but Gunther looks to land a suplex on him before Balor counters into a crossbody. Balor sends Gunther crashing into the mat, then lands a clothesline on him.

Gunther runs over Balor with one of his own before they exchange strikes and Balor takes down Gunther with a Sling Blade.

Balor follows it up with a pair of double stomps to his midsection and dropkicks him into the corner then ascends to the top rope and looks to land Coup De Grace.

Gunther moves out of the way and locks in a Sleeper before Balor fades.

Winner By Submission: Gunther

-After the match Gunther locks in a Sleeper on Balor once again as Damian Priest’s music hits and he runs down to the ring. He wastes no time going after Gunther and sends him crashing into the barricade on the outside. Priest sends Gunther over the announce desk then fires off right hands on him on top of it. He fires off stomps on Gunther and sends him crashing into the giant PRIME Hydration Drink at ringside. He continues beating down Gunther to close out Raw.
