NJPW G1 Climax Night 9 Results & Review (August 3rd, 2024)

On August 3rd, 2024 NJPW aired the 9th Night of G1 Climax in Osaka Japan inside Yamato University Arena in front of 1,711 fans & can watch the show on NJPW World.

8 Man Tag Team Match
United Empire (NEVER Openweight Champion Henare, Television Champion Jeff Cobb & Francesco Akira) & Konosuke Takeshita vs. Katsuya Murashima, Tomoaki Honma, Hirooki Goto & Shoma Kato

Konosuke Takeshita & Hirooki Goto starts this match before Francesco Akira launched off of Jeff Cobb’s shoulders and splashed Shoma Kato.

Kato tried some chops on Takeshita but he no sold them then drops Kato with one blow.

Kato drops Henare with a dropkick then Tomoaki Honma tags in as Henare hit some Yes Kicks to Honma’s chest then a senton. Akira & Katsuya Murashima tagged in.

Takeshita & Goto brawled some more then both rolled to the floor as Akira hits a faceplant then Fireball for the win.

Winners: United Empire (8:18)

NEVER Openweight 6 Man Tag Team Champions Boltin Oleg & Toru Yano vs. Bullet Club War Dogs (Global Champion David Finlay & Gedo)

Bullet Club War Dogs works over Toru Yano before Boltin Oleg got in and hit a shoulder tackle then a splash to the mat on Finlay then hits a gutwrench suplex. He set up for Kamikaze but Finlay escaped.

Finlay hits a backbreaker over his knee before Yano & Gedo got back in and Yano yanks on Gedo’s beard then he got a schoolboy for the win. 

Winners: NEVER Openweight 6 Man Tag Team Champions Boltin Oleg & Toru Yano (5:37)

Guerrillas Of Density (El Phantasmo & Jado) vs. Just 5 Guys (Taka Michinoku & Yuya Uemura)

El Phantasmo & Yuya Uemura kicks this match off before Uemura hit some deep arm drags.

ELP & Taka Michinoku did some comedy over eye pokes before Uemura hit some chops on Phantasmo.

ELP fired back with a brainbuster on Uemura and they were both down.

ELP hit a plancha to the floor on Michinoku leaving Jado & Uemura in the ring.

Jado applied a Crossface on the mat but Uemura escaped & slaps on a cross armbreaker and Jado immediately taps out.

Tag Team Match
Los Ingobernables De Japon (Yota Tsuji & Bushi) vs. House Of Torture (Yoshinobu Kanemaru & Ren Narita)

House Of Torture attacks LIJ from behind before Yota Tsuji & Ren Narita brawled on the floor and Narita whips him into the guardrail. In the ring Tsuji hits a backbreaker over his knee on Narita.

Narita grapevined the leg on the mat but Tsuji reached the ropes.

Yoshinobu Kanemaru enters and locks in a Figure 4 Tsuji.

Bushi dove through the ropes onto Narita while Tsuji hits Gene Blaster on Kanemaru for the win.

Winners: Los Ingobernables De Japon (5:14)

Block A Match Of The 2024 G1 Climax
Jake Lee (2) vs. Callum Newman (4)

Callum Newman hits a kick and Jake Lee rolls to the floor to regroup then back in the ring they traded standing switches. They fought to the floor and Lee whips Newman into the ring post.

In the ring Lee was in charge and hit a guillotine leg drop for a near fall before Newman hit some chops that Lee no sold. Callum hit some running Penalty Kicks then a standing moonsault for a near fall.

Newman hits a Triangle Moonsault to the floor then Newman set up for OsCutter but Lee sidesteps it and hit a chokeslam for a near fall. Newman hits some roundhouse kicks before Lee hits FBS for the win.

Winner: Jake Lee (4) (11:15)

Non Title Block A Match Of The 2024 G1 Climax
KOPW 2024 Champion Great O Khan (2) vs. Evil (10)

Evil attacks Great O Khan from behind and they immediately fought to the floor then they passed the guardrail and fought into the crowd.

Back in the ring Evil choked O Khan with a chain and made a cocky one footed cover.

He applied a half crab but O Khan reached the ropes then O Khan hits a belly 2 belly suplex and they were both down. O Khan hits Mongolian Chops.

Evil bites O Khan’s leg then hits a snap fisherman’s suplex for a near fall.

O Khan tied up Evil on the mat then Evil distracted the ref allowing Dick Togo to hit O Khan with chair shots to the back. Evil applied a Sharpshooter but O Khan reached the ropes.

Evil hits Darkness Falls for a near fall then O Khan slams Evil face first to the mat.

He untied tape around Evil’s elbow and applied a hammerlock while also wrapping his legs around Evil’s head. He switched to a cross armbreaker but Dick Togo pulls the ref to the floor.

Evil got a chair and jabbed it into O Khan’s chest & with Togo’s help he hits Magic Killer for a near fall.

O Khan blocks Everything Is Evil & O Khan hits a plancha onto Togo to take him out.

Back in the ring Evil hits a running clothesline for a near fall then sets up for the Everything Is Evil but O Khan escaped and O Khan hits The Eliminator for the win.

Champion vs. Champion Block A Match Of The 2024 G1 Climax
IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Tetsuya Naito (4) vs. Strong Openweight Champion Gabe Kidd (6)

Gabe Kidd immediately unloaded a flurry of punches and stomps in the corner. They brawled to the floor.

In the ring Naito hits Rude Awakening for a near fall then they brawled over the guardrail and into the crowd and Kidd tossed Naito into rows of chairs. Naito then whips Kidd into the chairs.

He slams Kidd face first on an open chair then they returned to ringside where Kidd slams Naito back first onto the ring apron.

In the ring Kidd applied a Liontamer and he eventually sat down into a regular Boston Crab.

Naito hit a Destino out of nowhere before Kidd crashed face first on the top turnbuckle.

Kidd hit a Saito Suplex for a near fall and they were both down before Naito hits a headscissors takedown and an enzuigiri.

Kidd swung wildly on a clothesline and it allowed Naito to get an inside cradle for the victory.

Block A Match Of The 2024 G1 Climax
Shota Umino (6) vs. Sanada (4)

Shota Umino & Sanada brawled to the floor and Sanada drops him throat first on the guardrail.

In the ring Sanada hit a Russian leg sweep and he grounded Umino before Umino hits a fisherman’s suplex for a near fall. Umino hits an exploder suplex for a near fall.

Sanada hits a dropkick then a plancha to the floor then in the ring Sanada hit a back suplex for a near fall.

Umino hits a side slam for a near fall then Sanada ducked a Shining Wizard and he locks in an STF.

Sanada placed Umino’s feet on the ropes and hit the Magic Killer then hits Shining Wizard.

He went for a moonsault but Umino got his knees up to block it and they were both down.

Umino hits a Meteora to the back then a tornado DDT and a running swinging neckbreaker.

Sanada hits another Shining Wizard and he set up for Deadfall but Umino avoided it.

Umino hits a DDT for a near fall before Sanada got an O’Connor Roll and leaned back for leverage to score the win.

Block A Match Of The 2024 G1 Climax
Shingo Takagi (4) vs. Zack Sabre Jr (8)

Zack Sabre Jr hits a northern lights suplex then snaps Shingo Takagi’s neck between his ankles and hit a basement dropkick. ZSJ hit some European uppercuts and he applied a leglock around Takagi’s neck.

Takagi hits a suplex then Takagi hit some chops and a senton then a suplex then hits some elbow strikes to the side of the head.

ZSJ snaps the right elbow between his legs and he immediately tied up the fingers then stomped on the elbow. Takagi hits a swinging neckbreaker.

He hit a top rope superplex then a sliding clothesline but he sold the pain in his right elbow.

ZSJ hit some kicks and he applied an Octopus Stretch but Takagi eventually reached the ropes.

ZSJ snaps some more of Takagi’s fingers before Takagi hits a clothesline and they were both down.

They got up and traded forearm strikes before Takagi hits Made In Japan for a near fall.

ZSJ hits Zack Driver for a near fall before they hit simultaneous clotheslines and Takagi hits Pumping Bomber and he was fired up.

ZSJ climbed on Takagi’s back so Takagi fell backward to slam ZSJ to the mat.

ZSJ held on and turned it into a Triangle Choke before Takagi connects with Last Of The Dragon for the win.

Winner: Shingo Takagi (6) (18:13)
