Yoshinari Ogawa retiring due to neck injury
NOAH and AJPW veteran announces retirement.
Pro Wrestling NOAH announced via their Japanese website that Yoshinari Ogawa had decided to retire effective immediately due to a neck injury. It is currently unclear when the injury was sustained, but Ogawa’s last participation at a NOAH event was in an eight man tag where he teamed with Daga, Super Crazy, and Yu Owada to face Tadasuke, YO-HEY, HAYATA, & AMAKUSA.
Ogawa, a Pro Wrestling NOAH original, spent the early days of his career in the All Japan Pro Wrestling junior heavyweight division, holding the promotion’s top junior heavyweight title for over 1,200 days. After jumping to NOAH after the promotion’s inception, Ogawa successfully challenged for the GHC Junior Heavyweight tag team championship nine times with reigns as the Junior Heavyweight champion and GHC Heavyweight champion as well.
NOAH clarified that Ogawa requested to retire without a ceremony or press conference and that the injury sustained will not hinder Ogawa’s life outside of the squared circle.
