EFFY & Joey Janela win and lose DDT Iron Man Heavy Metal title at DDT Fighting Beer Garden
GCW staples lock their names into a lengthy lineage.
On 8/15, DDT Pro Wrestling held day one of their Fighting Beer Garden collaborative event with American independent promotion Game Changer Wrestling. The event falls in line with a GCW Japan tour ending with two DDT collab events.
In a tag team main event pitting current DDT Iron Man Heavy Metal champion Danshoku Dieno of DDT and EFFY against Takeshi Masada of DDT and Joey Janela, Janela scored a pinfall over Dieno. The DDT Iron Man Heavy Metal championship is a 24/7 belt that is defended anytime and anywhere therefore any pinfall over the champion by any person or even object results in a title change. Janela became the 1,665th Heavy Metal title holder after having four previous reigns with the belt.
As Janela concluded his post-match promo, GCW staple EFFY rolled him up for a three count to win the belt for the first time, becoming the 1,666th champion in the title’s history.
This change would last less than an hour, however, as forty time Iron Man champion Danshoku Dieno would lay in a low blow and then roll up the champion for another three count, resulting in the third title change of the night for the belt. Dieno now sits as the 1,667th champion in the title’s lineage.
EFFY took to X (formerly Twitter) after the temporary victory to celebrate.
