Drew McIntyre: As Psychotic As It Is, CM Punk’s Gift Is His Brain, Our Job Is To Keep Elevating

Drew McIntyre has a couple of nice things to say about his bitter rival.

Since his return to the WWE, CM Punk and Drew McIntyre have had a heated rivalry for almost a full year. It got worse when McIntyre caused Punk to miss five months of in-ring action while Punk would go on to screw McIntyre out of becoming the World Heavyweight Champion at WrestleMania, Clash at the Castle, and Money in the Bank.

During a sitdown with Notsam Wrestling, McIntyre gave some praise to the way Punk’s mind works, saying that even with it being psychotic, the mind of Punk in the words of McIntyre is also a gift to professional wrestling.

“Knowing and trusting our creative process now, myself as a performer, as much crap as I give Punk, rightfully so, he does know this industry, his brain is his gift, as psychotic as it is, and yeah, that’s something in the past I’ve been really worried about, keeping that momentum, but just knowing the process and trusting the process now with the team that we have, I know that we can keep elevating and elevating. Sometimes, I get told, ‘Maybe save this for another week.’ I’m thinking, ‘No, I’ll do it this week, and then I’ll top it next week.’ That’s my job, to keep elevating and elevating,” McIntyre said.

McIntyre picked up the win over Punk in the first singles match of Punk’s WWE run since coming back last November. Now, Punk is looking to get a rematch to settle the score with the Scottish Warrior.
