Bryan Danielson Says He Was So Close To Getting A Match With Shawn Michaels In 2013-14

Bryan Danielson almost fought HBK.

In 2013, Shawn Michaels cost Daniel Bryan (Now known as Bryan Danielson) a shot at becoming the new WWE Champion against Randy Orton. A moment where many fans thought that the WWE could’ve been planning on pitting the teacher against the student soon, but the match didn’t happen.

Danielson spoke about it, saying he thought it was close to happening, but the brief period wasn’t enough to make it happen.

“The one [match] I’ve always wanted is Shawn Michaels, because he helped train me. There was a moment, a brief period of time, in 2013-14 when I thought I was going to get it but I didn’t. So close,” Bryan told Danny Stone & Adam Cailler of the Daily Star.

Danielson is set to compete in the potential final match of his legendary career when he puts it on the line against the AEW World Champion, Swerve Strickland at All In at Wembley Stadium.
