WWE Raw Results & Review (September 9th, 2024)

On September 9th, 2024 WWE aired the 1,633rd episode of Raw live in Calgary Alberta Canada inside Scotiabank Saddledome.

Note: This review will be shorter then normal as it be the last few mins of the match.

8 Person Tag Team Street Fight
The Wyatt Sicks (Erick Rowan, Dexter Lumis, Joe Gacy & Nikki Cross) vs. American Made (Julius Creed, Brutus Creed, Chad Gable & Ivy Nile)

Nikki Cross pulls Ivy Nile out of the ring and lands a German suplex on Chad Gable then hits a hanging twisting neckbreaker to Nile on top of the pile of chairs on the outside.

On the other side of the ring Gable notices Uncle Howdy.

Erick Rowan runs him over and sends him crashing on top of the ring steps then dumps him back in the ring.

Uncle Howdy hits Sister Abigail to him and Dexter Lumis follows it up with an assisted Frog Splash with Rowan’s help for the win.

Winners: The Wyatt Sicks

-World Tag Team Champion Finn Balor tells Damian Priest that it didn’t have to be this way. He says that Priest screwed Judgment Day and says he tried helping Priest up when he joined the group. He says Priest held him down the more he tried doing so, then says he was his friend, brother, the guy who had his back and the guy who made sure he stayed World Heavyweight Champion. He says he would’ve become World Heavyweight Champion if Priest hadn’t held the Money In The Bank briefcase then calls him down to the ring to say some things to his face.

-Priest’s music hits, and he storms down to the ring. He tells Balor that he’s run every time Priest has wanted to get his hands on him since breaking up the real Judgment Day. He warns Balor that he’ll beat him down as soon as he says what he needs to say, and Balor tells Priest that he’s no longer his sidekick. He says Priest and Ripley will fall on the same night as he wants a match against him at Bad Blood and Priest accepts.

-Priest clocks Balor but Carlito & JD McDonagh look to blindside him. Priest sees them coming and Dominik Mysterio looks to fly off the top rope. Priest intercepts him but Priest, McDonagh & Carlito save him and the 4 men beat him down. Rhea Ripley’s music hits and she makes her way out with her crutch still in hand. Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan looks to blindside Ripley but Ripley sees her coming and uses her crutch. Mysterio grabs it but Ripley beats him down with it. Morgan connects with a chop block on Ripley and uses her crutch to continue attacking her knee as the rest of Judgment Day continues beating down Priest. Mysterio then uses the crutch to hit Priest with it and Balor sets up for a Coup De Grace to him but Jey Uso runs down to the ring with a chair in hand to even the odds and checks on Ripley & Priest.

-We get a recap of Braun Strowman beating hit with a Bronson Reed Tsunami on a car 2 weeks ago and then coming back to win the 3rd Semi Final Match last week.

-Jackie Redmond conducted a backstage interview with Braun Strowman, who said working last week’s match didn’t help with his injuries. He said a wounded monster is even more dangerous.

-Intercontinental Champion Bron Breakker arrived and said Strowman is a monster. Breakker said he would show the world that you don’t have to be Strowman’s size to be a monster. Breakker said the only reason Strowman was still standing is that he hasn’t been in the ring with him. Breakker said he hopes Strowman wins the 4 Way and said he would see him around.

Women’s Tag Team Titles Match
Bianca BelAir & Jade Cargill (c) vs. The Unholy Union (Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn)

Bianca BelAir rolls up Alba Fyre but Fyre kicks out.

Isla Dawn tags back in and The Unholy Union connects with the Gory Bomb/facebuster combination.

Dawn goes for a pin but Jade Cargill breaks the fall.

Cargill & Fyre then tag in and Cargill runs over Fyre with a pump kick.

BelAir & Cargill then hits a DDT/German suplex combination for the win.

Winners & Still Women’s Tag Team Champions: Bianca BelAir & Jade Cargill (STILL CHAMPIONS!!!)

-Backstage Jackie Redmond interviews LWO & Dragon Lee spoke about his match with Dominik Mysterio. Judgment Day showed up and then Rey Mysterio ended up bickering with Finn Balor & Dominik. Rey told Balor to stop hiding behind his son and face him in a match. Balor agreed to face Rey.

-Wade Barrett asks Bret Hart how good it feels to be back at home on Raw and Hart says it’s the place to be. He says no one took more pride than him in being a Canadian champion then says Canadian champions will take on anybody to prove themselves. He says he did that to prove that he was the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be.

-World Heavyweight Champion Gunther’s music hits and he makes his way out. He says he’s about to pour his heart out to one of his childhood heroes and says everyone watched Hart growing up. He says Hart will always be a close second to his all time favorite, Bill Goldberg.

-Sami Zayn’s music hits and he makes his way down in a Johnny Gaudreau Calgary Flames jersey. Zayn tells Gunther he has a lot of nerve standing in Calgary talking to Hart in the manner he just did. He asks if Gunther thinks this is a joke then says Hart is a Canadian hero. a hero to everyone in Calgary, a hero to an entire generation in the back and a hero to him. He says while Gunther may be World Heavyweight Champion, Hart set the tone for what it means to be a champion. He say Gunther ran away as soon as he challenged him for a title match last week then tells him to prove that he’s the best he is. He challenges Gunther to a World Heavyweight Title match once again and Gunther tells Zayn that he’s far from being in the same league as Hart after telling Hart that he’s not in his league. He denies giving Zayn a shot at his title.

-Hart calls Gunther a coward as he leaves and Zayn stares him down on the ramp. Gunther looks to land a right hand on Zayn but Zayn sees it coming and fires off several of his own. He sends him crashing into the ring post and rains down more right hands before a couple officials appear to break them apart. Hart then shakes Zayn’s hand and holds it up before Zayn hugs Hart.

-Backstage Bron Breakker was about to say he didn’t know what to think of Pete Dunne when he was called Butch but Dunne stops him. Dunne said he would beat Trick Williams and then win the NXT Title and then become a double champion by beating Breakker for the Intercontinental Title. Breakker drops a line about the dogs barking loudly in Canada and then wished Dunne good luck. Sheamus showed up and attacked Dunne until security intervened just long enough for Dunne to get away.

Dominik Mysterio vs. Dragon Lee

LWO & Judgment Day then begin brawling with one another to the back opening the door for Liv Morgan to connect with a chop block on Lee while the referee is distracted.

Dominik Mysterio then dials it up for a 619 on Lee and follows it up with a Frog Splash for the win.

Winner: Dominik Mysterio

-Jackie Redmond stood outside the venue where a massive number of items were on the lawn and steps in front of the venue. Redmond noted that the Gaudreau brothers were laid to rest earlier today. Redmond said Gaudreau was magical to watch and a pleasure to interview. Redmond said WWE wants to send its deepest condolences to the wives of the Gaudreau brothers and their entire family. A memorial graphic appeared on the screen for the Gaudreau brothers

-We then head backstage and see a verbal confrontation between Bianca BelAir, Jade Cargill & Damage CTRL with Damage CTRL putting BelAir & Cargill on notice for their Women’s Tag Team Titles.

-Lyra Valkyria started to make her entrance but it was interrupted by Sonya Deville & she mocked the idea of a mystery tag team partner changing the luck of Valkyria & Vega. Deville told the mystery person to shoot her shot then Natalya made her entrance as the mystery partner.

6 Woman Tag Team Match
Pure Fusion Collective (Shayna Baszler, Sonya Deville & Zoey Stark) vs. Lyra Valkyria, Zelina Vega & Natalya

Natalya & Zoey Stark pin each other but they both kick out.

Natalya then looks to cinch in the Sharpshooter on Stark once again but Sonya Deville & Shayna Baszler looks to prevent her from doing so again.

Lyra Valkyria & Zelina Vega intercept them with Sharpshooters of their own as Natalya locks one in on Stark & Stark taps out.

Winners By Submission: Lyra Valkyria, Zelina Vega & Natalya

-Natalya was talking backstage with Zelina Vega & Lyra Valkyria when Bret Hart entered the picture and hugs Natalya.

-Drew McIntyre encourages fans to chant for CM Punk and says every time they do so, it’s in memory of him. He recalls Punk discussing beating him in their Strap Match last week then complains about Punk screwing him out of the World Heavyweight Title 3 times. He gloats about pinning him at SummerSlam then says they aren’t done just because Punk touched 4 corners. He says he made Punk a bigger star and says he can live with that given that he ended Punk’s career.

-McIntyre says it’s now to talk about the future, then says he’s looking ahead to the World Heavyweight Title and his new movie coming out. He says he’s afraid he’s got some bad news with the business he has to cover then addresses Wade Barrett at ringside. He tells him he doesn’t have many friends left in the wrestling business and recalls their long history with one another including defending his actions on commentary. He questions why Barrett did what he did last week and says he’s disappointed then exits the ring towards Barrett and warns him against doing something like that again. He says he’ll be angry and do something about it if Barrett intervenes again in his business.

-Adam Pearce marches down to ringside and asks McIntyre if he really wants to fight with Barrett & McIntyre tells Pearce to get to the point. Pearce reveals that he spoke to Punk earlier today and says Punk isn’t done with McIntyre. McIntyre tells Pearce that he doesn’t believe him after what he did to Punk last week and Pearce informs McIntyre that he will be facing Punk 1 more time at Bad Blood at Hell In A Cell.

-Backstage Karrion Kross spoke with The Miz and offered to help him out of his rut. Xavier Woods showed up and asked Kross what his angle was. Kross said they were just having a conversation and wished Woods luck with the Kofi Kingston situation.

-After Kross left Miz told Woods that he invented the game that Kross was trying to play. Miz conceded that he was in a rut. After Miz left, Kingston shows up and informed Woods that he got them a shot at the World Tag Team Titles. Woods put on Bret Hart’s shades and said they would walk into their 10th anniversary in November as the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be

World Tag Team Champion Finn Balor vs. Rey Mysterio

Rey Mysterio looks to dial it up for a 619 but Finn Balor intercepts Mysterio and catapults him into the top rope.

Balor uses the middle rope to wear down Rey’s knee with a Half Boston Crab and the referee calls for the bell after Balor refuses to release the hold.

Winner By DQ: Rey Mysterio

-After the match Balor sends Mysterio crashing into the ring post. He heads to the back but runs back down the ramp and dropkicks Mysterio into one of the ring skirts with the screen featuring the Raw logo on it.

-Ilja Dragunov was interviewed in the backstage area by Jackie Redmond. Dragunov credited Damian Priest & Rhea Ripley for giving him a fair shot in his qualifying match because they fought off Judgment Day. Dragunov brought up having unfinished business with Bron Breakker before he showed up and said they don’t have unfinished business because he already beat him. Breakker said he could beat him again.

Jey Uso walked into the picture and glared at Breakker. Jey walks away and spoke into the camera about being in your city then calls for his music to play before he added yeet.

Finals Of The Intercontinental Title #1 Contenders Tournament
Jey Uso vs. Pete Dunne vs. Ilja Dragunov vs. Braun Strowman

Jey Uso runs the ropes and hits a spear to Ilja Dragunov then looks to pin him but Pete Dunne dumps Jey out of the ring and pins Dragunov himself.

Dragunov kicks out and a frustrated Dunne rains down right hands on Dragunov.

He sets up for Bitter End but Dragunov escapes and lands a powerbomb on him.

He follows it up with the H Bomb and goes for a pin but Jey breaks the fall.

Jey then ascends to the top and hits an Uso Splash to Dunne for the win.

Winner & #1 Contender To The Intercontinental Title: Jey Uso

-After the match Jey celebrates his win with the Calgary crowd. Bron Breakker appears and stares down Jey, holding up his Intercontinental Title to close out Raw.
