NXT Results & Review (September 17th, 2024)
On September 17th, 2024 WWE aired the 751st episode of NXT live in Orlando Florida inside WWE Performance Center.
Note: This review will be shorter then normal as it be the last few mins of the match.
-Kicking off this week’s NXT with a video recapping the events of last week’s edition of NXT.
-After announcing that Sexxy Red will be making her return to NXT on October 8th, Randy Orton will be competing on NXT on that same show and The Miz will be hosting a special edition of Miz TV on October 1st, Ava introduces Trick Williams.
-Williams makes his way out and says he’s the Last Man Standing after defeating Pete Dunne last week. He says 2 weeks from now, more history will be made when he wins back the NXT Title from Ethan Page.
-NXT Champion Ethan Page’s music hits and he makes his way out. He mocks Williams’ fans for cheering for him & Williams tells Page that he and the fans don’t like it. Page says while Williams has every right to be confident, he’s not Pete Dunne. He says he happens to be Williams’ kryptonite as is evident with the NXT Title. Williams says since Page stole the NXT Title from him, he’s been running from him but that stops on October 1.
-Page disputes Williams’ statement that he stole the NXT Title from him and says he both earned it and won it. He says he remembers the shocked and surprised looks on everyone’s faces when he won the NXT Title including Williams then says on October 1, Williams will have a different look on his face when he retains his title to continue the Era of Ego.
-Williams says Page is crazy and tells him that when they meet for the NXT Title , people won’t be cheering him on. Page responds by hitting Ego’s Edge to Williams though the table set up in the ring, then leaves the ring without signing the contract (Williams not having done so himself either).
-We then head over to a video from last week of a frustrated Tony D’Angelo confronting Hammerstone after he paid him to dethrone Oba Femi as North American Champion but being unable to do so. D’Angelo demands that Hammerstone get himself a rematch for the title but Hammerstone declines to do so.
-Ava spoke with Robert Stone & Stevie Turner before Je Von Evans & Cedric Alexander met Ava for a chance to get booked on the card for the 10/8 edition of NXT in Saint Louis. Ava told Evans she would think about it.
Tag Team Match
Wendy Choo & Rosemary vs Lyra Valkyria & Tatum Paxley
Wendy Choo & Rosemary then look to double team on Tatum Paxley but Lyra Valkyria trips Choo as she runs the ropes.
Paxley sends Rosemary crashing into the mat and tags in Valkyria & she hits a leg drop for the win.
Winners: Lyra Valkyria & Tatum Paxley
-Sarah Schreiber interviewed Ava & Trick Williams, and they both guaranteed that the contract for the match on the 10/1 edition NXT would get signed tonight.
-No Quarter Catch Crew prepared for their match backstage before Charlie Dempsey told Wren Sinclair to make a name for herself tonight.
Tony D’Angelo vs. Hammerstone
Hammerstone lands a belly 2 belly suplex on Tony D’Angelo.
D’Angelo then slides out of the ring and the referee begins a 10 count but instead of trying to beat it.
D’Angelo stays on the outside and slowly heads to the back as the referee finishes it and calls for the bell.
Winner By Count Out: Hammerstone
-Zachary Wentz then appears at ringside looking to explain why he & Trey Miguel were unable to challenge for the NXT Tag Team Titles last week. He calls for surveillance footage to be played of Wes Lee attacking Miguel prior to the match in Dayton, Ohio as Miguel is getting in a car. Wentz then vents his frustrations with Lee’s actions and warns him of that the pain he’s going to put him through in their Street Fight on October 1st.
-We then head over to Ava’s office where NBA star Tyrese Haliburton assures Ava he can get the contract for the NXT Title match between Trick Williams & Ethan Page on October 1st. Ava agrees.
-Sarah Schreiber interviewed Fatal Influence & they said they only spoke the truth and said that Vice was a great fighter but not a star like them.
-Lola Vice was training backstage while Brinley Reece spoke to her before Jaida Parker interrupted and said she would go after Fatal Influence but Vice said that Parker could have them after she was done with them.
Eddy Thorpe vs. Ashante Thee Adonis
Ashante Thee Adonis dropkick Eddy Thorpe out of the ring and ascends to the top rope then flies to level him and dumps him back in the ring before ascending back up to the top rope and looking to fly.
Thorpe sees him coming and catches him with an Impaler DDT for the win.
Winner: Eddy Thorpe
-Riley Osbourne & Thea Hail had a vignette backstage, where Hail said she was heartbroken by Ridge Holland & Osbourne said he would get revenge for Chase University.
-After the break CM Punk says he wanted to get his business out of the way last night on Raw in order to have some fun tonight. He admits to seeing some familiar faces in the audience after watching NXT from ringside while he was recovering from his torn triceps at the Performance Center then rattles off a few names he hopes to share the ring with one day in the future. He then says he asked Shawn Michaels to be part of the NXT show on October 1st in Chicago, Illinois to be on the show and Michaels agreed to let him do whatever he wanted. He then adds that he came up with a special idea.
-Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez’s music hits and she makes her way down. She apologizes to Punk for interrupting him and says 13 year old her would be freaking out if she could see her sharing the ring with Punk. She tells him that he’s one of the main reasons she’s in WWE and says that as the Voice of the Voiceless, he was always her voice. She tells Punk that she always preferred AJ Lee to him then says she was excited to see him return to WWE at Survivor Series last year. She says now that she’s standing face 2 face in the ring with Punk, she realizes she should’ve been a Drew McIntyre fan in the first place. She says Chicago will no longer be Punk’s town when she retains the Women’s Title against Giulia on October 1st.
-Perez says she doesn’t care how big Giulia is in Japan because she’s big around the globe and is untouchable. Punk then tells Perez that while she might think he’s upset she interrupted him, he actually appreciates it. He says he used to have a chip on his shoulder like Perez does, then says the Women’s Title makes her the best in possibly all of WWE. He recalls thinking that Perez would’ve fit perfectly into the match between Iyo Sky & Bianca BelAir last night but that doesn’t matter with her title defense against Giulia quickly approaching.
-Giulia’ music hits and she makes her way out. She stares down Perez and tells her that the countdown is on until she dethrones her as Women’s Champion. She tells her that she has 2 weeks left and looks to leave the ring. Perez then looks to clock Giulia with the Women’s Title but Punk stops her.
-Sarah Schreiber interviewed Women’s North American Champion Kelani Jordan where she said she could host an open challenge. Wren Sinclair interrupted by saying she was here to make a name for herself before slapping Jordan. Jordan then chased Sinclair around backstage.
-After the break we see Tony D’Angelo explain to The Family that he walked out of his match against Hammerstone earlier tonight out of fear and shares his embarrassment for doing so.
Tag Team Match
No Quarter Catch Crew (Tavion Heights & Myles Borne) vs. Cedric Alexander & Je Von Evans
Kelani Jordan appears and begins brawling with Wren Sinclair after a backstage verbal confrontation between them tonight as Cedric Alexander hits Lumbar Check to Myles Borne in the ring.
Je Von Evans tags in and ascends to the top rope then hits a Tornillo to Borne for the win.
Winners: Cedric Alexander & Je Von Evans
-After the match Je’Von Evans was announced to be Randy Orton’s opponent on the 10/8 edition of NXT.
-Ridge Holland was interviewed backstage while Shawn Spears was watching where Holland said he would destroy Chase University and he would see Riley Osbourne next week. Brooks Jensen then appeared and asked Spears if he was coming for his match tonight.
Brooks Jansen vs. Dion Lennox
Dion Lennox rains down right hands on Brooks Jensen and levels him then connects with a back body drop to him.
Shawn Spears looks to take Lennox’s glasses but Lennox stops him and rolls up Jensen.
Jensen kicks out and lands a belly 2 belly suplex to get the win.
Winner: Brooks Jansen
-Wes Lee spoke about his visit to Ohio and said he would try and send Wentz back to TNA now that it was a 1 on 1 match.
-A Town Down Under calls out NXT Tag Team Champions Axiom & Nathan Frazer to a match on the 10/8 edition of NXT.
Lola Vice vs. Jacy Jayne
Lola Vice fires off a series of rapid kicks on Jacy Jayne then connects with a hip attack on her in the corner and follows it up with 305 for the win.
Winner: Lola Vice
-After the match Fallon Henley & Jazmyn Nyx attack Vice. Henley holds Vice in place for Nyx to fire off kicks on her & Jayne joins them. Jaida Parker runs down to the ring to even the odds then lands a hip attack on Henley. She dumps Nyx out of the ring and sends Jayne crashing into the mat face first. Henley and Nyx pull Jayne out of the ring. Vice then gets in Parker’s face for helping her but Parker almost accidentally clocks her before she realizes that it’s Vice rather than Fatal Influence.
-We then head backstage and see Adriana Rizzo give some encouraging words to Tony D’Angelo after he was vulnerable with The Family about his fears.
-Tyrese Haliburton says he’s here to make sure Williams & Page put pen to paper for their October 1st bout then says he brought back up in his Indiana Pacers teammates. He then introduces Williams & Page and they both make their way down to the ring.
-Williams signs the contract as Page enters the ring and Page tells Williams he gave him an out earlier tonight. He says if Williams wants to force him to sign the contract then he’ll do it. He calls himself the Boston Celtics of NXT Champions and tells Williams that he’ll be like the Indiana Pacers and the rest of the NBA when he retains his NXT Title. He then signs the contract.
-Haliburton says he forgot 1 more thing and CM Punk’s music hits. Punk makes his way out and informs both Williams & Page that the announcement he looked to make earlier tonight concerned them both. He then informs Williams & Page that he will be the Special Guest Referee in their NXT Title on October 1st. He then encourages them to fight and they begin brawling with one another. Security guards and officials then run down to the ring to break them apart as they continue yelling at one another.
