Carmelo Hayes: It’s My Destiny To Win The United States Championship
Melo has his sights set.
On an episode of The Ringer’s Masked Man Show, Carmelo Hayes talked about why the perfect first title for him to win is the United States Championship on the SmackDown brand.
“It’s inevitable. It’s my fate, it’s my destiny, you know what I mean? The United States championship, you look at all of the guys that held that previously, it’s the perfect first title for a guy. Especially a guy like me, who does take a lot of pride in my work rate. They talk about the mid card titles being the work rate titles, the Intercontinental and things like that. I definitely take pride in my work, so I want to excel in other areas as well and I think that’s the perfect title to learn. To be in that position where you have people coming after you is the perfect time to learn, that’s why I think I enjoy being champion so much in NXT because it was like, you come for me, you come for me, and that makes me have to work harder.”
Despite a hard-fought battle, Andrade El Idolo was not successful in his attempt to become the new United States Champion against LA Knight. Hayes will look to even the score with Andrade and inch closer to a title shot against Knight.
