WWE Raw Results & Review (September 23rd, 2024)

On September 23rd, 2024 WWE aired the 1,635th episode of Raw live in Ontario California inside Toyota Arena.

Note: This review will be shorter then normal as it be the last few mins of the match.

-Kicking off this week’s Raw with Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan & Dominik Mysterio pull up to the Toyota Arena we see Bronson Reed & Braun Strowman brawl with one another at a merchandise stand before Morgan & Mysterio head to the ring.

-Morgan mocks fans and says the Liv Morgan Revenge Tour is going exactly as planned. She then throws it to a video of Judgment Day attacking Terror Twins after Priest defeated Mysterio last week then says she’s kept her promise of taking everything from Ripley including the Women’s World Title, Judgment Day and Mysterio.

-Rhea Ripley’s music hits and she makes her way out. She tells Morgan to quiet down and says that she’s not planning on attacking her tonight as she has something to tell Morgan. Mysterio stands between Ripley & Morgan & Ripley asks him what he’s going to do. Morgan intervenes and mocks Ripley by telling her that Dominik might’ve stayed with her if she didn’t care so much about Priest. She continues mocking Ripley by guessing that she’s about to tell her that she isn’t cleared to challenge her for the Women’s World Title at Bad Blood and says she’ll beat her because she’s smarter than her.

-Ripley informs Morgan that she’s been fully cleared for Bad Blood then tells both Morgan & Mysterio that Adam Pearce has made it official that Mysterio will be in a Shark Cage on October 5th. Ripley tells Morgan that she’ll win back the Women’s World Title with no one to help her and says she takes back what she said before then headbutts Morgan and heads to the back.

-We get a recap of  Sami Zayn’s issues with Gunther & Ludwig Kaiser while highlights aired from last week.

Sami Zayn vs. Ludwig Kaiser

Ludwig Kaiser gets in the referee’s face but turns around into an exploder and sets up for the Helluva Kick. Kaiser sees Zayn coming and delivers a kick to him then goes for a pin but Zayn kicks out.

Kaiser looks to send Zayn crashing into the mat but Zayn escapes and hits a German suplex.

He follows it up with a Helluva Kick for the win.

Winner: Sami Zayn

-After the match an angered World Heavyweight Champion Gunther makes his way down to the ring dressed in his ring gear. He says Zayn has been begging for a World Heavyweight Title for weeks and he’s seen enough then says he thinks that Ontario, California is the right time for him to say no to a title match. Gunther laughs and heads to the back as Zayn dares him to enter the ring with him.

-We get a recap of last week’s drama involving New Day.

-Backstage Kofi Kingston approached Xavier Woods and they quickly made peace. Kingston brought up New Day’s 10 year anniversary and showed off a trombone and boxes of Booty O’s. Woods said those things were great when they were on top but they need to be more serious. Kingston agreed enthusiastically said Woods should call the shots for the next 2 weeks.

-American Made showed up & they set up a match for later in the show. After American Made left, a man showed up with a plate of pancakes but Kingston gave him the cut sign before Woods spotted him.

-After the break backstage Liv Morgan & Dominik Mysterio complained to Adam Pearce about the shark cage stipulation. Pearce said Mysterio has interfered in every Women’s World Title match and his decision is final. Carlito & World Tag Team Champion JD McDonagh showed up after Pearce walked away. Morgan told them they need to send the LWO a message.

-Dominik Mysterio, Carlito, & McDonagh walked away and encountered Ilja Dragunov. McDonagh threatened Dragunov but Dragunov said Finn Balor wasn’t there which meant McDonagh would do nothing. McDonagh said Carlito had a match but he would see him around.

Dragon Lee vs. Carlito

Rey Mysterio appears out of nowhere and hits a senton on the barricade off Dominik Mysterio.

That opens the door for Dragon Lee to hit Carlito with Operation Dragon for the win.

Winner: Dragon Lee

-The Miz was warming up backstage when he was approached by Karrion Kross. Miz said he didn’t have time because he was preparing for Bronson Reed. Kross told Miz that he wants him to be the guy who doesn’t care what anyone thinks and will do whatever it takes to win. Kross told Miz that monsters come in all different shapes and sizes. Yes, they do Miz said before walking away. Kross smirked and repeated the same line.

-After the break Sheamus was interviewed by Cathy Kelley in the backstage area. Sheamus got the crowd to chant call him Butch regarding Pete Dunne. Sheamus said he has a score to settle with Dunne. He said he didn’t want to make it an English/Irish thing then he said they should make it an English/Irish thing and referred to Dunne as Butch.

The Miz vs. Bronson Reed

Braun Strowman attacks Bronson Reed on the ramp and begins brawling with Reed.

The Miz gets in Strowman’s face for attacking Reed but Reed takes them both down with a tope suicida.

Reed hits 2 security guards with a Tsunami and Strowman hits a double chokeslam on 2 more of them.

More security guards runs down to the ring but Reed & Strowman take them down and level each other with a clothesline. Reed ascends to the top rope but Strowman catches him with a right hand.

Security pulls them apart but Strowman kicks Reed out of the ring and takes down several more security guards.

He lands a bodyslam on two of them and a powerslam on a 3rd one then ascends to the top rope.

Reed retreats up the ramp.

Winner: No One (Match Never Got Started)

-Drew McIntyre says CM Punk’s words from last week have been ringing through his head all week then says he saw the look in his eyes and knew he meant every word. He says he knew Punk was being truthful for once then says like Punk’s sisters and wife, his own wife has begged him to get away from Punk and not compete in Hell In A Cell. He says Punk has been broken easily in the past and he’ll break him once again in their Hell In A Cell match.

-Backstage Jackie Redmond asked Adam Pearce how he planned to handle things between Bronson Reed and Braun Strowman. Pearce said a regular match won’t settle things. Pearce booked Reed vs. Strowman in a Last Monster Standing match.

-Pearce ran away once he heard some commotion and he found Pete Dunne slamming a cricket bat over the back of Sheamus. Dunne was pulled way while Pearce checked on Sheamus.

-Backstage Women’s Tag Team Champions Bianca BelAir & Jade Cargill confronted Damage CTRL. Iyo Sky said they were coming for the Women’s Tag Team Titles. Cargill said they won’t even touch the titles. Belair said Sky and Sane should focus on The Unholy Union because they’ve had their number

Tag Team Match
The Unholy Union (Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn) vs. Damage CTRL (Kairi Sane & Iyo Sky)

Isla Dawn tags in and looks to land a backstabber on Iyo Sky but Kairi Sane saves her and sends Fyre crashing onto the floor.

She ascends to the top rope and hits In Sane Elbow to Fyre on the outside as Sky connects with Over The Moonsault on Dawn in the ring for the win.

Winners: Damage CTRL

-Intercontinental Champion Bron Breakker was interviewed by Cathy Kelley & she asked him what would it take to stop Jey Uso’s relentless pursuit of the title. Breakker did his dog call and the fans were receptive.

-Breakker said there would be a winner and a loser. Breakker said someone would get his ass kicked and it would not be him. Breakker said he might give Jey another shot at the belt a couple months down the road after he works his way back up the ladder because he intends to be champion for a long time.

-A burning symbol appeared on the screen.

-After the break we get the replay of the Roman Reigns & Cody Rhodes video from Smackdown.

-After the break Jey Uso was warming up backstage when Sami Zayn approached him. Zayn said the Intercontinental Title meant the world to him. Zayn told Jey to make the title his. Jey thanked him

Tag Team Match
Creed Brothers (Julius & Brutus) vs. New Day (Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods)

Julius Creed then hits a shoulder tackle to Kofi Kingston before getting him up in an electric chair position and tagging in Brutus.

Brutus then ascends to the top and connects with Brutus Ball for the win.

Winners: Creed Brothers

-A Damian Priest video promo aired. He recalled using the saying Am I my brother’s keeper? when he was younger. He spoke about how life brought him to Judgment Day and said it was a crew that became a family.

-Priest said that family gave him a brother in Finn Balor. He recalls how they spoke about running WWE and did so. Priest said Balor always wanted it to be about himself. Priest said Balor had a face of envy when Rhea Ripley became a world champion.

-Priest said no one acted happier on camera when he won the World Heavyweight Title but he was the 1st person out the door with a face of envy when the cameras were off. Priest asked if he is his brother’s keeper. Priest said he is and always will be but Balor is not his brother. Priest closed by speaking briefly in Spanish.

-A Wyatt Sicks video aired and had another QR code.

-After the break a Pure Fusion Collective video promo aired. Sonya Deville spoke about how other teams put on spicy outfits and do stupid dances. Shayna Baszler said they fight for dominance. Zoey Stark said they are the foundation and the future of the women’s division. Deville closed by saying if you want to step up, shoot your shot.

-Backstage Rey Mysterio was accompanied by the rest of the LWO and he tried to apologize to Xavier Woods but he wasn’t having it. Mysterio told Woods to take it up with Kofi Kingston because he had to worry about facing Finn Balor next week.

-Woods said Rey had time for Balor but not for him because he’s not a former world champion. Kingston said Mysterio didn’t mean it like that. Woods blew up. Mysterio said Balor can wait, he’ll face Woods next week. After the LWO left, Woods continued to throw a fit to Kingston.

-A Bronson Reed vs. Braun Strowman video package aired that made them look like Godzilla & King Kong walking down a city street

Intercontinental Title Match
Bron Breakker (c) vs. Jey Uso

Bron Breakker lands a running spear on Jey outside the ring then dumps him back inside and runs the ropes looking to land a second spear.

Jey catches Breakker with one of his own then ascends to the top rope and hits Uso Splash.

He goes for a pin but Breakker kicks out.

Breakker looks to land another spear on Jey on the outside but Jey catches him with a superkick and spears Breakker through the barricades.

He gets Breakker back in the ring and hits another spear then ascends to the top rope and hits Uso Splash for the win.

Winner & New Intercontinental Champion: Jey Uso (NEW CHAMPION!!!)
