On September 27th, 2024 WWE aired the 1,309th episode of Smackdown live in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma inside Paycom Center.
Note: This review will be shorter then normal as it be the last few mins of the match.
-Kicking off this week’s Smackdown with Randy Orton says it’s been a minute since he’s been on Smackdown but he’s missed it and welcomes fans to the show. He says he can count the amount of people he can trust on one hand after being in the wrestling business for so long and one such name includes Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes. He calls Rhodes down to the ring and demands an explanation as to why he’s tagging with Roman Reigns at Bad Blood to take on The Bloodline.
-Rhodes’ music hits and he makes his way out. He asks Oklahoma City and Randy Orton what they want to talk about then says he knows what Orton wants to discuss. He says he understands why Orton wants an explanation with everything Reigns put him through as The Tribal Chief and perhaps he looks foolish for teaming with Reigns then says he’s planning on taking Reigns on his word after he gave it to him. Rhodes says he hopes Orton understands his thinking and understands why he needs to end The Bloodline once and for all then tells him that he hopes it isn’t a problem and offers him his hand. Orton shakes Rhodes’ hand and tells him that it’s not a problem unless he makes it one.
-Kevin Owens’ music hits and he makes his way down to the ring. Before he can speak Solo Sikoa’s music hits and he makes his way out with the rest of The Bloodline.
-Sikoa says he’s happy that Rhodes, Orton & Owens are all in the ring as it saves him some trouble. He demands that Oklahoma City acknowledge him then says he will acknowledge the fact that Reigns gave him his word and tells him that he should trust him. He says Rhodes will need Reigns because Orton & Owens will be no good for him then questions how long Rhodes has been trying to take down The Bloodline and says Owens and Orton have let him down every time they’ve tried to help.
-Owens says the only thing that needs to be acknowledged is that no one cares what Sikoa has to say. He challenges The Bloodline to a Tag Team match and Rhodes suggests that they have a 6 Man Tag Team Match. Owens stops him and tells him that he’ll have a chance to get his hands on The Bloodline at Bad Blood. He then issues a challenge to Sikoa & Jacob Fatu for a Tag Team Match against him & Orton.
-We then head backstage and see a tense verbal exchange between Miss Money In The Bank Tiffany Stratton & Women’s Champion Nia Jax.
Women’s Title #1 Contenders Match
Bayley vs. Naomi
Bayley & Naomi rock one another with forearms before Naomi hits a kick to Bayley’s head and follows it up with an enzuigiri.
She sends Bayley crashing into the mat and connects with a blockbuster then lands a kick on her head.
Naomi then ascends to the top and flies but Bayley moves out of the way and hits Bayley 2 Belly.
She ascends to the top rope and connects with an elbow drop for the win
Winner & #1 Contender To The Women’s Title: Bayley
-After the match a disappointed Naomi slowly retreats up the ramp.
-We get a recap of the United States Title match last week.
-Backstage Andrade approached Knight and told him he had lost respect for him because he didn’t shake his hand like a man. Before Knight could answer Carmelo Hayes blindsided Knight and sent him tumbling over an equipment crate. He then told Andrade he had something for him too and left for the ring
Non Title Match
Speed Champion Andrade vs. Carmelo Hayes
Carmelo Hayes sends Andrade crashing into the mat and follows it up with a twisting neckbreaker.
He goes for a pin but Andrade kicks out.
Hayes then ascends to the top rope but Andrade meets him up there and looks to send him crashing into the mat but Hayes counters into a cutter.
LA Knight’s music hits and he makes his way down. He hops up on the apron and distracts Andrade.
Opening the door for Hayes to roll up Andrade for the win.
Winner: Carmelo Hayes (Recommend)
-After the match Knight offers his hand to Andrade but Andrade brushes past it and slides out of the ring.
-We then head backstage and see Cody Rhodes approach Kevin Owens & Randy Orton after what happened between them earlier tonight. Owens brushes Rhodes off but Orton tells Rhodes that his help later tonight would be appreciated and he’ll talk to Owens to get things smoothed over.
-After the break an AJ Styles vignette aired.
-A backstage video aired that showed Piper Niven attacking Michin with a trash can earlier in the day.
Michin vs. Piper Niven
Piper Niven knocks her off with a right hand then looks to land a senton on her that sends her crashing through the garbage can that Chelsea Green brought to the ring on the outside as Green distracts the referee.
Michin moves out of the way and Niven is sent crashing into the garbage can.
Michin then lands a boot on Green that sends her crashing onto the floor from the apron and gets Niven back in the ring before she lands Eat Defeat on her for the win.
Winner: Michin
-After the break we head backstage and see Bayley apologize to Naomi about what happened earlier tonight. Naomi assures Bayley that everything’s good between them before she runs into Tiffany Stratton and they find themselves involved in a verbal confrontation.
-Footage from Cody Rhodes & Roman Reigns at the Georgia Tech Football stadium was shown.
Tag Team Match
The Bloodline (Jacob Fatu & Solo Sikoa) vs. Randy Orton & Kevin Owens
Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa run down to the ring and distract Kevin Owens.
Solo Sikoa catches him with Spinning Solo and pins him but Owens kicks out.
Cody Rhodes then runs down to the ring and takes down Loa & Tonga.
He sends Loa crashing into the mat with a DDT and sends Tonga crashing into the ring apron.
Orton lands an RKO on him but Fatu takes him down and hits Rhodes with a tope suicida.
Rhodes is then sent crashing into the referee and Owens asks him what he’s doing.
Fatu then hits a pair of superkicks to him & Sikoa hits Samoan Spike for the win.
