Mick Foley: The Match I Had At Backlash 2004 Against Randy Orton Is My Favorite Match Of All Time
Mick Foley has always been a strong believer in Randy Orton.
While reliving their brutal match at Backlash 2004 on the WWE Vault YouTube channel, Mick Foley and Randy Orton spoke about how the match between both men had exceeded the expectations of Foley as he had been a huge believer in Orton and that it’s his favorite match of all time in his legendary career.
“I was a big believer in the potential of Randy Orton, and I thought I’ve got this amazing young athlete, [whose] ears and eyes [were] wide open, and we’re in a situation where he can help me have the type of match I need to have to feel complete, and I can help him take that next step up the ladder. Given his age and experience, it was a performance for the ages,” Foley said. “I think to this day, he says, it’s his favorite match. [It’s] my favorite match of all time.”
A star would be born that night following the classic encounter and the rest of Orton’s career has been proof that he learned from legends like Foley who is a former WWF World Champion.
