Todd Grisham explained the reason why his reaction was so flat.
In 2009, Christian Cage returned to the WWE, this time under the ECW brand where he would interrupt the ECW Champion, Jack Swagger, and set his sights on the world championship picture. This is remembered as the moment when Todd Grisham reacted flatly to the return, but now we finally know why.
Christian would go on to make his way through the rankings before he defeated Swagger to become the new ECW World Champion where he would hold it on multiple occasions before the title and brand were retired by the WWE so they could introduce the first season of WWE NXT.
Cage now works for All Elite Wrestling where he is a former two-time AEW TNT Champion, and has an opportunity to win the AEW World Championship with his guaranteed contract at any time and any place.
