Dana White Believes Tom Aspinall Will Fight Jones vs. Miocic Winner

Is Tom next up?

Unification Fight

Tom Aspinall is the current Interim UFC Heavyweight Champion and has been for a year now. Tom stepped in on short notice and knocked out Sergei Pavlovich at UFC 295 last November to become interim champion after the originally scheduled Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic fight was cancelled. Now, nearly exactly a year later, Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic will finally fight at UFC 309 on November 16 for the UFC Heavyweight gold.

During the build up to this fight, there’s been many rumors surrounding both Jon and Stipe retiring after the fight regardless of the outcome. Though neither has outright said it, other than Stipe being seemingly sarcastic. Dana White has gone on record several times to say he does not think they will retire and now, while speaking to TNT Sports, Dana White himself says that he believes Tom Aspinall will be next for whoever wins the UFC 309 main event.

100% and I I truly believe that whoever wins this fight, competitively, the way these guys are wired and the reason that that’s both massive legends I the sport, they’re not just going to ride off into the sunset without settling the dispute with Tom Aspinall. And, I think that also, when you think about Jon Jones becoming the youngest champion in heavyweight history and all the things that Stipe accomplished, they were given opportunities when they were young, and I think they will reciprocate.

We are less than two weeks out from Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic. Following that fight, the landscape of the Heavyweight division should be more clear. Until the, retirement is still rumored.
