Jon Jones Fires Back At Critics Saying He’s “Ducking” Tom Aspinall
Jon Jones isn’t here for childish games.
Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall
Jon Jones is set to take on Stipe Miocic on November 16 at UFC 309 in the main event with the UFC Heavyweight Championship on the line. If he wins, many fans desperately want Jon to then have a unification fight with Interim Heavyweight Champion Tom Aspinall. But, Jon recently said that he’d rather fight Alex Pereira instead.
Following his comments, backlash hit social media with fans saying Jon is “ducking” Tom. Jones then took to social media, in a now deleted tweet, to allude to the drama sounding like high school.
Following the tweet being deleted, Jon took a more thoughtful approach and had this to say.
As at this point in my career, every decision is rooted in purpose,” Jones wrote. “My journey isn’t dictated by hype or outside opinions—it’s about crafting a legacy that speaks for itself, one step at a time. I’m here to do what’s right for my career and my legacy, with a vision that’s clear and unshakable. Focused, driven, and in complete control of myself. The story continues, and it’s unfolding exactly as I’ve envisioned.
Whether Jones actually does or does not fight Tom Aspinall remains to be seen, but, he does have Stipe Miocic standing in his way next week.
