UFC Reverting To Old Gloves For UFC 309
What’s old is new, right?
Old Gloves For UFC 309
UFC 309 headlined by Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic is this Saturday, November 16th, live from Madison Square Garden. Now, we have some interesting news heading into the big fight card. Ariel Helwani was first to report that UFC will not be using their updated gloves that they introduced in June. Instead, UFC will revert back to the gloves used prior to that date.
Ariel mentioned there was no reason was given as to why the change was implemented for this card. Back in June, the new gloves were introduced as a way to reduce eye pokes with updates to the seams, padding, wristband, and finger holes. The look of the new gloves are fine, but many fans have complained that the padding has also reduced the amount of knockouts in fights, but that’s not a confirmed statistic.
UFC 309 will see Jon Jones defend the Heavyweight Championship against Stipe Miocic, Michael Chandler vs. Charles Oliveira, and so much more. Recently, Stipe and Jones got into a back and forth ahead of the fight.
