Bo Nickal Says Paul Craig Will Be Surprised With His Grappling

Bo left no stone unturned.

Wrestler vs. Grappler

Paul Craig is one of the best Jiu-Jitsu artists in UFC, whereas Bo Nickal is one of the best wrestlers in the UFC. Now, they clash to see who is better, this Saturday at UFC 309.

Paul Craig is all confidence going into this fight, saying Bo better hold on for dear life. But, during media day, Bo Nickal responded to Paul and let him know that he believes Paul will be surprised with his grappling skills.

You know, I think the guys I’m training with and that I’m working with in Jiu-Jitsu are, they’re not good at Jiu-Jitsu for MMA. They’re the best guys in the world in the sport of Jiu-Jitsu. And, I think he would be surprised how good my grappling, my overall submission grappling, is. In the first submission grappling match I ever took, was against Gordon Ryan, who’s the pound for pound number one fighter in the world. And he could submit me for 13 minutes. So, and that was with three training sessions in that sport. So, I think he’d be a little surprised with my grappling. We can do a grappling match after, that’s no problem. But, yeah, as far as this fight goes, I’m going in there to fight. It’s every single aspect of MMA, that’s what I’ve been working on for the last few months and just improving and developing overall. So, wherever the fight goes, I’ll be confident.

Many fans have seen fighters point to the octagon to issue an invitation to “stand-and-bang”, but maybe this Saturday we’ll get an invitation from one to initiate grappling. You can see the full card for UFC 309 here.
