Chris Weidman On UFC 309 Fight: Fans Can Expect An Awesome Show

Chris Weidman is ready to put on a show.

Chris Weidman vs. Eryk Anders

Chris Weidman is 1-1 since returning from a leg injury that he suffered in 2021. Now, he’s back in his home state of New York this weekend to fight Eryk Anders at UFC 309. Both men have been in the game for a bit, and almost hold the exact same record with Weidman being 16-7, while Anders is 16-8. This weekend, someone gets their 17th win.

While talking on UFC Embedded, Chris Weidman explained his excitement to be back in his home state to fight, and tells the fans to expect an awesome show.

Very excited to get in there in front of hometown crowd in New York, hopefully a bunch of Long Island dudes are there, and girls, and I just think it’s going to be a great time. Been a while since I fought in New York, so, to be able to come back there and put on a show for everybody is going to be awesome, I’m super excited about it. Fans can expect an awesome show, I’m trying to showcase my skills, put on a great display of mixed-martial arts and completely dominate my guy and really just kind of shock people, you know, I’ve been gone for so long, I’m 40 years old, I’ve had 30 surgeries, I’ve been through a lot, you know? Probably one of the worst injuries in the history of the sport with my leg breaking in half, and to get to the other side and still have that, the ability to compete against the best guys in the world, is what I’m trying to show.

The betting lines are even for this fight. Both men are looking to go out there and prove they’ve still got it, despite their age. The bout will be apart of the Prelim card, which kicks off at 8PM ET.
