Netflix’s Tech Troubles Spark Concerns for WWE’s Live Streaming Future

Netflix’s highly anticipated Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight on November 15th was plagued with buffering and connectivity issues, despite becoming one of the year’s most watched global events. This technical hiccup has raised concerns among wrestling fans about the stability of WWE’s upcoming live streaming plans on the platform.

Fightful Select immediately reached out to sources within WWE for comment. WWE officials assured them that they are confident in minimizing similar issues for their own live content. One high-ranking official even remarked that the sheer volume of traffic experienced during the Paul vs. Tyson fight would be a “good problem to have,” suggesting that WWE anticipates significant viewership for their live events.

This isn’t the first time Netflix has faced streaming challenges. Their recent live “Love is Blind” finale also suffered from notable technical difficulties.

Interestingly, Fightful Select also revealed that during the development and marketing of the “OVW Wrestlers” show, a live episode was discussed. This would have served as a valuable opportunity to test the platform’s capabilities for live wrestling broadcasts.

With WWE’s increasing presence on Netflix, including the upcoming live episode of “The Walking Dead” featuring AJ Styles, the reliability of the platform’s live streaming infrastructure is crucial. Fans will undoubtedly be hoping that WWE’s confidence in a smooth streaming experience proves well-founded.
