LA Knight Retains United States Title, Shinsuke Nakamura Attacks Again
LA Knight better watch his back.
United State Title Match
LA Knight vs. Santos Escobar for the United States Championship went down on SmackDown. But, before the match even began, Shinsuke Nakamura appeared on the screen and made it clear that his sights are on him. After Shinsuke attacked LA Knight last week in his return, it’s clear that Knight has to have eyes in the back of his head.
That’s exactly what he needed here, as he was distracted by Shinsuke and allowed Santos Escobar to attack him from behind to jumpstart the match. Santos was in control heading into commercial break. When we returned, Santos was still on control, but the crowd was getting behind Knight.
Once the champion started to bounce back, he was rolling. LA Knight hit a big neck breaker for a near fall. Just when Knight had Santos in prone position, Shinsuke appeared on the stage for a distraction. Santos ended up gaining control and hit a frog splash. He tried for the phantom driver, but got reversed into the BFT for the win.
Following the match, Shinsuke Nakamura attacked LA Knight and targeted his throat. Pause.
