Michael Chandler Reveals His Unhappiness With UFC 309 Performance
Michael Chandler rates his fight very low.
Chandler vs. Oliveira 2
Michael Chandler took on Charles Oliveira for the 2nd time at UFC 309 two weeks ago. The fight went the distance, but Charles Oliveira was the winner. Two years prior, Charles Oliveira won their first encounter via TKO in Round 2.
Now, following his loss, Chandler spoke on The Ariel Helwani Show where he revealed that he is not at all happy with his UFC 309 performance and goes as far the say he rates it a 2/10.
I’m not happy with my performance. I would give myself a 2 out of 10. I cannot overstate how horrible of a performance this was, or set of circumstances it was after that first round, compared to what my vision was for what I’m capable of. I believe I beat Charles Oliveira 9 times out of 10. And obviously, I’ve lost to him twice now, two out of two, I have a 100% loss rate to Charles Oliveira. So, I understand why people might tsk at that, roll their eyes at that, but I just, so unhappy with the performance, man. I’m so excited to get healthy and I’m so excited to give the fans and my supporters and you and everyone else out there, the performance that they deserve. And my coaches, man. Henry Hooft and Robbie Lawlor and these guys, they pour their lives into me and it just was not the performance that I wanted.
Chandler did reveal after the fight that he hurt his leg in round one. He certainly was not lying, because he posted a video of the damage just a week after the fight, showing off his very swollen leg from the knee down to the foot. You can see that here.
