WWE Smackdown Results & Review (December 20th, 2024)
On December 20th, 2024 WWE aired the 1,322nd episode of Smackdown live in Hartford, Connecticut inside XL Center.
Note: This review will be shorter then normal as it be the last few mins of the match.
-Kicking off this week’s Smackdown with a recap of Saturday Night Main Event.
-Solo Sikoa says Roman Reigns decided to challenge him to a Tribal Combat Match on the January 6th episode of Raw. He says if Reigns wants to challenge him then he’s in. He promises to leave his Bloodline behind as long as Reigns does the same thing, but he will walk in and walk out as Tribal Chief. He says he will still be the Head Of The Table and the Ula Fala after their January 6 match then says after he defeats Reigns, he can hop back onto his boat, sail off to his island of irrelevance and acknowledge him.
-Drew McIntyre’s music hits and he slowly makes his way out to the ring. He stares down The Bloodline as he grabs a mic. Sikoa tells McIntyre that he was happy with what he did to Jimmy Uso last week but McIntyre better have a good reason to be in the ring. McIntyre says he’ll keep it quick in order to not launch an attack on Sikoa then asks him if he ever wonders when he’ll be coming for him. McIntyre says Sikoa cost him the WWE Title at Clash At The Castle 2022. He says Sikoa did stand up to Reigns and was the only one brave enough to do so and because of that, he feels torn. Jimmy then attacks McIntyre with an attack as LA Knight, Andrade & Apollo Crews run down to the ring and go after The Bloodline.
6 Man Tag Team Match
The Bloodline (Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga & Jacob Fatu) vs. LA Knight, Apollo Crews & Andrade
Apollo Crews hits a Frog Splash to Tama Tonga and pins him but Tama kicks out.
Crews transitions into a crossface on Tama but Shinsuke Nakamura sends LA Knight crashing over the announce desk with a jumping knee while the referee has his back turned.
Solo Sikoa breaks up the crossface then tags himself in and connects with a hip attack.
Sikoa hits Spinning Solo on Crews before following it up with Samoan Spike for the win.
Winners: The Bloodline
-Motor City Machine Guns were interviewed backstage by Byron Saxton. They both swore revenge on DIY. Alex Shelley said he thought Johnny Gargano was a little brother but he finally took off the mask and showed who he really was. He said he needed to face him alone and he wanted to find out if Gargano was man enough to fight his own battles.
-We get highlights of the Finals of the Women’s United States Title Tournament from SNME.
-An interview was shown from Chelsea Green after the match on Saturday. She took the gum out of her mouth and put it in the hand of Byron Saxton. She said she’s worked her entire life to be an overnight success and she deserved it. Saxton asked her how it felt to be in the history books, and she said duh. She should have been there 3 years ago but she got released and it should have been in 2015 but she never got hired. Green said she was going to Disney Land so she had a plane to catch.
-After the break we get footage of Kevin Owens vs. Cody Rhodes at SNME was shown including the post match attack with a Package Piledriver by Kevin Owens.
-We then got a promo from Kevin Owens where he was holding the Winged Eagle Title. He said the attack was not his fault. Owens blamed Cody, the referees, Nick Aldis & WWE management for screwing him out of the Undisputed WWE Title. He said he should be Undisputed WWE Champion so he took the Winged Eagle because he deserves it. Owens said he hasn’t even snapped yet and that it could get so much worse. He said whatever happens next is on WWE Management.
-After the break WWE Tag Team Champions DIY had a backstage promo. Tommaso Ciampa calls Alex Shelley stupid for wanting a grudge match instead of a WWE Tag Team Title match. Johnny Gargano asked Ciampa to stay in the back because he wanted to prove his manhood.
-Grayson Waller introduces Braun Strowman and he makes his way down to the ring. Waller says it was nice of Strowman to give some merchandise out to fans and Strowman says he was just trying to spread some Christmas cheer. Waller then proposes an alliance between him, Austin Theory & Strowman but before Strowman can answer, Carmelo Hayes’ music hits and he makes his way out to the ring. He says he wasn’t ready for his match against Strowman last week then demands a rematch against him. Strowman accepts.
Carmelo Hayes vs. Braun Strowman
Braun Strowman hits Carmelo Hayes with a boot on the outside as the referee beats a 10 count.
Hayes gets in the ring before she can complete it but Strowman doesn’t.
Winner By Count Out: Carmelo Hayes
-Backstage Ms Money In The Bank Tiffany Stratton wished Women’s Champion Nia Jax & Women’s Speed Champion Candice LeRae luck in their match. They informed her they didn’t want her at ringside, and that she could do them a favor by getting streamers and champagne for later. Stratton walked away disgusted.
-After the break we head backstage where Braun Strowman was on the warpath looking for Carmelo Hayes. He asked Legado Del Fantasma but got pointed in the wrong direction. Pretty Deadly asked him about the musical again but he said he didn’t care. Hayes then attacked him with a chair from behind and ran away. Strowman got to his feet even angrier than before.
WWE Tag Team Champion Johnny Gargano vs. Alex Shelley
Alex Shelley sends Johnny Gargano crashing into the middle rope with a flatliner but Tommaso Ciampa hops up on the apron.
Chris Sabin emerges at ringside and chases Ciampa around the ring opening the door for Gargano to pin Shelley for the win.
Winner: WWE Tag Team Champion Johnny Gargano
-We got some highlights from the Raw on Netflix kickoff at WWE HQ.
-Backstage Bianca BelAir & Naomi were interviewed by Byron Saxton. BelAir said the last few weeks have been rough. She said she would get to the bottom of what happened to Jade Cargill but she was glad she had a friend like Naomi who had her back.
-Naomi said she would always have her back because she knows how important these titles are to BelAir & Jade Cargill. BelAir offered to let her hold one of the titles but Naomi said not until she earned it.
Women’s Tag Team Titles Match
Bianca Belair & Naomi (c) vs. Women’s Speed Champion Candice LeRae & Women’s Champion Nia Jax
Bianca BelAir takes down Nia Jax on the outside as she gets into a verbal exchange with Tiffany Stratton on the outside.
Opening the door for Naomi to connect with a split legged moonsault to Candice LeRae for the win.
