Starlight Kid has had a transformative year in 2024, going from the darkness of Oedo Tai to the bright Neo Genesis. At Dream Queendom 2024, she looked to best her rival Natspoi and obtain the Wonder of Stardom Championship, which has eluded her thus far in her career. SLK has had a run of great matches, a mask that has become iconic, however one of the top titles has been missing from her ever-growing list of accomplishments. Entering Ryogoku in front of thousands of fans, she battled Poi for over 20 minutes. Symbolizing her end goal of the white belt and as a stark contrast to the dark Kid of recent years she wore white ring gear. She grabbed that missing puzzle piece when she hit a tiger suplex and added another champion to Neo Genesis. Starlight Kid was generous enough to speak with Bodyslam after the match about what it meant to win, reflect on her 2024, and talk about what’s on the horizon for 2025.
What are your thoughts on your match against Natsupoi?
On top of having an amazing match, I was able to win the belt so I don’t have much to say today. I feel like Natsupoi is an important rival to me, so I definitely won’t be losing to her as our rivalry goes on.
Do you have any reflections on 2024?
Let’s see, I got kicked out of Oedo Tai, was lost for a bit, then Neo Genesis was formed, it has been one hell of a year with a lot going on. I was able to get the results I wanted in my first title match after joining Neo Genesis so I honestly feel really happy. I’m glad that I didn’t disappoint my fan’s expectations and I will continue to give it my all next year.
What are your goals and challenges heading into 2025?
Well since this belt is around my waist now, it is my top priority to raise its prestige. I think there’s a stigma that if you’re not holding the red belt, you won’t be as popular or you won’t be able to do this and that, so I want to change the ranking of prestige of the championships, and bring the belt that I’m holding right now, the Wonder belt, to the top of the chain.
