Road To Genesis – TNA iMPACT Results – January 2, 2025

Joe Hendry makes his way out to the ring to kick off the show. Joe says he told himself on January 1, 2013, he told himself that he would be a World Champion in pro wrestling. Hendry says TNA Genesis is a new beginning and he’ll leave everybody chanting “We Believe” at the end of the match after he’s crowned and starts a NEW ERA.

Hendry is interrupted by Ryan Nemeth, who says that Joe is not a main eventer and doesn’t deserve to be in the World Title match against his brother Nic. Ryan says that Joe is nothing more then a midcarder. Joe said he’s going to tell a story to Ryan and the crowd. Joe tells the crowd that he has had trouble sleeping, and when he went to the doctor he was told to watch the Ryan Nemeth comedy special. Joe tells Ryan that if he’s a midcarder then Ryan has to be a janitor. Hendry says he has business to attend to, and tells him to stop stealing the glory.

Ryan says hes going to have all the glory he needs tonight when he takes on the TNA Hall of Famer, Rhino, but that’s later tonight. Hendry says it’s going to happen right now. Joe brings out Rhino to face Ryan.

-Ryan Nemeth defeated Rhino by DQ after Rhino hits him with the chair that Ryan brought into the ring.

TNA backstage correspondent Gia Miller is standing backstage with Jordynne Grace. Gia asks Jordynne Grace how she feels about Tessa returning and attacking her at Final Resolution.

Grace says that Tessa took her ball and left. Now Tessa is claiming that this is her company and her locker room. Grace says that she has represented this company across different countries, different companies, and even through a global pandemic – she says that she is not the same person from five years ago, but Tessa is. Grace says that if Tessa is coming tonight she’ll be waiting by the door to give her the welcome she deserves.

After TNA comes back from commercials, The Rascalz are standing backstage and say that the TNA Tag Team Titles are being held by absolute Legends. They used to idolize the Hardys when they were younger. Matt and Jeff Hardy approach The Rascalz and say that they remind them of themselves when they were younger. Matt says that there is a big show coming up in Dallas, Texas – TNA Genesis. Matt says he is going to warn them that they’re the Hardy train and nothing will stop them…but if they can pull it off they’ll be beating the GOATS of tag team wrestling. The Rascalz accept their challenge. Trey Miguel tells Dallas to get ready for the Hardys vs The Rascalz in what will be the Match of the Year.

–Ace Austin def. Kushida via pinfall after nailing Kushida with THE FOLD.

Winner: Ace Austin

Post-match, Ace Austin thanks the fans for sticking with him and for helping Chris Bey every day. Ace says he Bey told him that he’s got to go on his own singles run and go for the top prize. Ace stated his intentions to go for Nic Nemeth and the TNA World Title.

Moose interrupts and stated that the X-Division title is the true top title, and he’s insulted that Ace did not mention his name when he wanted to go after his title. Moose says the X Division title is the flagship title and that it’s what TNA Wrestling is most known for. Moose says he’s the one who’s really holding the top title and that Ace must be scared of him. Moose started to talk about Chris Bey, but was cut off by Ace and told him to keep Bey’s name out of his mouth. Ace says he is a three-time X Division champion and he’s carried the division for years. Ace says that he’ll become a four-time X Division champion right now.

Santino comes out and says that Moose is a top-tier talent, and Ace has been on a big run since being on on his own, and defeating Kushida tonight solidified him as the top contender. Santino says that Moose will defend against Ace Austin at the Genesis PPV.

Steve Maclin is pacing around backstage. Eric Young is sitting there telling Maclin that he’s got his back, Maclin says he knows that and he’s just pissed off. Jonathan Gresham walks up and tells them to calm down. He says they’re all pissed off. Eric Young asks what they’re going to do. The System (Eddie Edwards, Brian Myers, and JDC walk up and interrupt all three men. Myers says they’re going to get the Tag Team Titles back, so what they’re going to do now is…attack Maclin, Young, and Gresham. A big fight breaks out.

-We’ll hear from Mike Santana

Santana comes out with Josh Alexander’s headgear.  He is interrupted by Josh and the Northern Armory.  Josh says that he remembers when he was teaming with Ethan Page as The North and they were the longest reigning tag team champions in TNA history, with victories over Santana and other members of LAX. Josh says Santana left and did nothing. He left and did nothing while Josh stayed and became the face of the company and beat everybody in his path.

Santana says that was because Josh was kissing ass to the guy who ran the place. He says that he knows who Josh is and what he’s capable of. Santana also says that he single handedly took down The System on his own, and challenges the entire Northern Armory next week in a gauntlet match.

After commercials, Frankie Kazarian is backstage and says he doesn’t care about everybody talking about the TNA World Title match right now, but says that he will be watching and waiting to take his shot. Leon Slater walks up and Frankie tells Leon he has something special. He says Leon needs some coaching, and he can start with being his trophy-bearer and carry it for him – watch him wrestle, and learn from a real pro. Leon says he’s not here to run errands, but that he wants to create his own legacy; Leon wants to forge his own path. Frankie tells him to remember who paved the way for guys like him.

Nic Nemeth makes his way out to the ring with the TNA World Title around his waist. Nic thanks the company and says these are exciting times on the way to Genesis – mentions Joe Hendry as his opponent. Nic says he believes in Joe Hendry – mentions that they went toe-to-toe at Bound For Glory and beat the hell out of each other. Nic says he is still the champion, but he has watched Joe rise up and ascend, but he’s still got to kick his ass in a few weeks.

Nic says he’s looking forward to the match next week where he teams with his brother Ryan to take on Rhino and Joe Hendry. Ryan comes out and says that Joe is not his friend and will stab him in the back – just like Rhino did to him earlier tonight with a steel chair – for no reason. Ryan says that they’re going to show Rhino and Joe that the Nemeth name is associated greatness. Nic stops him and says that he’s in this mess because of Ryan because his focus is on Genesis but now he has to tag

Tom Hannifan and Matthew Rhewoldt run down the matches for next week.

We go backstage to see a security guard laid out – he was keeping an eye out for Tessa Blanchard.

-Mashsa Slamovich, Jordynne Grace, Spitfire (Jody Threat & Dani Luna) vs Ash & Heather By Elegance, Tasha Steelz, Rosemary

Spitfire & Jordynne Grace & TNA Knockouts Champion Masha Slamavich defeated Heather and Ash by Elegance & Tasha Steelz & Rosemary. Masha pinned Tasha after a REQUIEM. 

Tessa runs out attacks Tessa Blanchard from behind. Tessa takes Jordynne backstage and drags her down the loading dock. She closes the door and says she’s the one who put this destination on the map and she’s taking her locker room back.
