John Cena won’t be at this years SummerSlam.
Recently, John Cena was on RAW for his 20th anniversary celebration. To the surprise of many fans, Cena didn’t announce or set up anything for SummerSlam, even noting that he wasn’t sure when he’d be back. Now, we know why. Peacemaker is making a comeback for season 2, according to Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Live. He reported that John Cena is working on Peacemaker season 2 in Canada.
I can confirm that John Cena is out right now in Canada filming Peacemaker season two. So that’s why there were discussions of SummerSlam, and then he shows up on RAW and is like, ‘I’ll be back someday, I don’t know when, but someday. So apparently, he’s filming Peacemaker instead of doing SummerSlam.

We don’t know exactly when we could see John Cena back, but he has said that he will eventually be back in the ring at some point.
