“For me, everything is looking up” Michelle Waterson Says About UFC Long Island This Weekend
Michelle Waterson has no worries heading into her bout this weekend on ESPN on ABC 3.
For 14 months, Waterson was kept out of action with a “career-ending” injury, this weekend she returns to fight Amanda Lemos in the co-main event of UFC Long Island on Saturday.
When speaking to reports about the injury and having to withdraw from the first fight, Waterson spoke about how this weekend she already feels like she is winning.
“For me, everything is looking up. If you’re talking about what’s at stake, I’m already winning. I took a step back being away for so long and realized I get to do what I love as a martial artist, step in front of challenges, find out things that scare me, and challenge myself to overcome those things. So in that sense, I’m already winning. There is nothing at stake. I’m going out there, be in the moment, be a true martial artist, and enjoy every second of it. It’s only 15 minutes, so got to soak it up.”
Lemos is coming off her second loss in the UFC when she lost to Jessica Andrade by submission in the 1st round of their main event bout this year in April. Lemos is the #11 ranked Strawweight right now and hopes to pass the #10 ranked Waterson this weekend in the co-main of UFC Long Island.
