Three Fights To Look Out For: UFC 278
UFC 278 is here and the event is headlined by Kamaru Usman vs. Leon Edwards for the UFC Welterweight Championship, which is a colossal main event. But, we’re gonna take a look at three fights you may not be looking at, but should be watching out for. It’ll be live from the Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah on Saturday night and will air on Pay-Per-View with the prelims on ESPN+. Lets take a look at some fights!
Marcin Tybura vs. Alexander Romanov
Marcin is coming off his first loss after being on a five fight win streak. Back in October of last year, Tybura lost via decision. But, now he’s back and looking to get back to his winning ways and with the knockout power he has, there’s a chance he may do it. But, it’s not an easy task. Sitting in front of Tybura is the undefeated 16-0 Alexander Romanov. Alexander is 5-0 in UFC with four finishes coming by way of four submissions and one knockout. Romanov has showed in the past that he can finish the fights on the ground and the feet and has been a dominant force in the heavyweight division. I’m betting this one won’t go to decision! Keep your eyes peeled for this one!
Yanan Wu vs. Lucie Pudilova
The only women’s fight on the card is one to keep an eye on. Yanan Wu has lost three fights in a row, all by decision and her last win dates back to 2018, which was her first win in UFC. Before becoming a UFC fighter, Wu was finishing off her opponents by submission and knockout, with the majority of them coming in the first round. Now, after three losses in a row, it’s time for Wu to get back to her old ways. But, standing across from her is the returning Lucie Pudilova. Lucie was in UFC dating back to 2017, but was then cut in 2020 after losing four in a row. Lucie then went on to go 5-1 in Oktagon MMA and is now back in the UFC, looking to prove that she was brought back for a reason. There’s a lot at stake for both these women, both looking for a huge win and you’re not going to want to miss it.
Daniel Da Silva vs. Victor Altamirano
The first fight on the card looks to be can’t miss. Daniel Da Silva has never went passed the second round and every fight he’s in has been a finish wether it was a win or a loss. Daniel can also finish on the feet of the ground, but is currently on a two fight losing streak, one by TKO and one by Submission. I think this will be another one that won’t go to the judges because across the cage is Victor Altamirano who is coming off his debut loss by decision, but does have many submissions under his belt. Victor has picked up a win on Dana White’s contender series back in august of last year before losing his official debut in February. Now, he’s looking to get the first UFC win under his belt and both of these guys are looking to make a big statement in the first fight of the night! Tune in early!
Overall, this card looks like so much fun. We have Merab and Aldo going to war, Costa and Rockhold, who’ve been going back and forth hard at each other, are both looking to make a statement and of course, the long anticipated rematch of Kamaru Usman vs. Leon Edwards, but this time, they’re not young fighters. The welterweight title is on the line! UFC 278 is live on Pay-Per-View and ESPN+ for prelims.
