It looks like CM Punk may be on his way out of AEW.
Since AEW All Out, it has been the opinion of many that Punk was on borrowed time with the company after his scathing rant on Hangman Page, Colt Cobana and The Elite. The Elite would take exception to this and would confront Punk at the event, leading to a brawl that has left all involved suspended.
Now, Dave Meltzer reports in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that AEW are interested in buying out the remainder of Punk’s contract with the promotion.
AEW is in talks with CM Punk about the future but it looks doubtful he will be back. Those with close knowledge of the situation said they are in talks with Punk about a buy-out of the remaining years of his contract

Meltzer also noted in the newsletter that the AEW locker room was now largely “anti Punk.” Time will tell if AEW will release Punk, but if they were, it would cost them a significant amount of money.
