Matt Cardona On Nick Aldis NWA Departure: It Doesn’t Really Affect Me Personally Or Professionally

Matt Cardona wishes Aldis well.

The news has been exploding the last few days after Nick Aldis gave his notice to NWA before being suspended by the company. The former Worlds Heavyweight Champion revealed that his contract with NWA is up at the beginning of January and he will be leaving. He heavily criticized NWA’s booking and the main event of their Hard Times 3 Pay-Per-View, which saw Tyrus winning the Worlds Heavyweight Championship over Trevor Murdoch and Matt Cardona. Now, Matt Cardona sat down to speak with Inside the Ropes, where he touched on the Nick Aldis and NWA owner Billy Corgan having a fallout. He mentions that he feels like he had great chemistry with Aldis and says he did a hell of a job in NWA.

We wrestled before, I felt we had great chemistry in the ring. I think he’s a total pro. I think he looks like a million bucks, he talks like a million bucks. He was the face of the NWA for a long, long time and he did a hell of a job.

Cardona continued on by saying that he’s not a replacement for Aldis, he’s here to make his own spot in NWA and though he wishes him well, Nick Aldis leaving doesn’t really affect him.

I didn’t come to the NWA to steal anybody’s spot, I came to create my own spot … It sucks that he’s leaving, but I know he will do great, whatever he does next. But it doesn’t really affect me personally or professionally.

Following his championship match loss, we’ll have to see what’s next for Matt Cardona within NWA.
