Kota Ibushi’s NJPW Contract Up In January
Kota Ibushi could be on his way to another company in the new year after being out of action since October 2021.
According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Kota Ibushi’s contract with NJPW will be expiring in January next year. Afterwards, there is a huge chance that he will join Kenny Omega in AEW.
“Kota Ibushi has been in light training in the ring of late and thus far the shoulder has held up well so that’s a good sign.”
“His New Japan contract expires at the end of January and he made a tweet hinting at that.”
“There was a lot of bad feelings over the past year but nothing is definite regarding staying or leaving at that point past he brought it up in a cryptic way about being a free agent in two months.”

It remains to be seen whether Kota Ibushi really will make his way to AEW or not. It has been teased since 2019, so the possibility is certainly there and his close friendship with Kenny Omega has lead many fans to believe he is on the way to the company when his NJPW contract expired.
