JBL Recalls Recommending Fit Finlay To Vince McMahon In The Mid-90s
Fit Finlay is loved by many.
JBL made his WWE debut on TV in 1996. But, when he met with Vince McMahon, he recommended another talent to be hired. JBL told the story on Stories with Brisco and Bradshaw.
When I signed with WWE, I met Vince for the first time in the office, had my tryout match, Jerry [Gerald Brisco] is the one who signed me, him and JJ Dillon agreed to sign me. At the end of the meeting, Vince says, ‘is there anyone I should sign in Europe?’ ‘Yeah, Fit Finlay.’ Vince says, half-jokingly, ‘Well, if you were me, would you sign him instead of you?’ I said, ‘Absolutely. I’m serious. He’s that good,’

JBL and Finlay worked together in 1994 for the Catch Wrestling Association. They would famously compete at WrestleMania 24 in a Belfast Brawl. Currently, JBL works as Baron Corbin’s manager and Finlay works in WWE as a producer.
