Kevin Nash Believes WCW’s Biggest Problem Was Everyone Booking For Themselves
Kevin Nash joined, alongside Sean Oliver and website subscribers, for a recent live watch-along of his legendary Starrcade 1998 match against Bill Goldberg on AdFreeShows. With the aid of Scott Hall using a cattle prod, Nash won the fight and is remembered for breaking the winning streak that made Goldberg famous. Moreover, it contributed to preparing the ground for the iconic “finger poke of doom” a week later.
During the broadcast, a viewer questioned Nash about the challenges of dealing with all the famous people backstage while holding a pencil. Nash stated that he decided to establish a precedent for himself with one of the weakest stars in WCW, but with the biggest names.
“That was the biggest problem we had because everybody wanted to book their own sh*t. I went out and put Rey Mysterio over, like when I first started booking.
I booked myself to put over Rey and I put him over clean. The reason I did that was like, if the second-biggest guy in the territory could put over the smallest guy in the territory, I don’t wanna hear anything about clean finishes.”

Nash has earlier noted that he doesn’t place a lot of faith in the idea that he killed WCW, adding that he was amazed that fans believed he had such influence.
