WWE Rejected Several Character Pitches From Bray Wyatt While He Was In FCW
Bray Wyatt had several ideas for his character while he was in WWE developmental.
While speaking to Bill Apter, Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat remembered Bray Wyatt’s early days in WWE. Steamboat was a coach in FCW, the company’s developmental brand at the time, and he witnessed Bray Wyatt strike out a few times in terms of coming up with a character that clicked.
Finally, after Bray Wyatt went through characters, like Husky Harris, he discovered the Louisiana swamp dweller that we all know today.
“I liked the way how he [Bray Wyatt] thought because he was always thinking about how he could get better. And he wasn’t the type of guy to give up. I don’t know about now, but then [during his time in FCW],”
“He [Bray Wyatt] could adapt. He got called up, and I don’t remember his first couple of characters, but the higher-ups didn’t like the character, so they sent him back down. So he came up with the idea to be a different character, and he would be called back up to take a look, but they didn’t like it, so they sent him back down. Then I think it was around the third time when he did this Louisiana type swamp guy, Bray Wyatt, and that clicked.”

Bray Wyatt’s Eater of Worlds character and the Wyatt Family made WWE history. They ran roughshod through the roster as a force to be reckoned with. Now, he is back in WWE and is once again undergoing a character shift.
