Trial Of Sami Zayn Segment Wasn’t Put Together Until After Acknowledgement Ceremony Was Nixed
WWE hastily put together the Trial Of Sami Zayn.
During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that WWE knew by SmackDown last week that they were going to air a trial instead. The Acknowledgment Ceremony would have been a big angle, but plans had to change.
The deal is that there was not going to be a trial. That was something that came up to fill the hole that they had from the original idea. Whatever happened on SmackDown was also changed to build toward the trial. Whatever they had planned was to build toward the Acknowledgment Ceremony, and that was out, but I can’t imagine that whatever they were going to do was going to be better than what they did.

It was also noted that, “the trial was an idea that came up when they had to figure out an idea for Monday.” So, WWE knew that they were switching things up, by at least Friday before SmackDown. This game them a chance to figure out the next step in this storyline.
