WWE Were Not Considering Sami Zayn As A WrestleMania Opponent For Roman Reigns Until Recently

In the absence of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Roman Reigns was previously reported to face Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 39. However, now that Sami Zayn is a huge draw courtesy of his status in The Bloodline, WWE could be changing those plans, similar to the Kofimania story from WrestleMania 35.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed WWE’s plan for Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn on the Road To WrestleMania.

“Right now, again, it’s weird, because the goal, you know the goal from the Roman Reigns’ standpoint all along was to make Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn into stars, into bigger stars. That’s actually worked. But, you know, the original plan, what I can say, and obviously, the original plan was not Sami Zayn, and even as late as a couple of weeks ago they were trying to figure out something that’s not Sami Zayn. Sometimes it gets handed to you.”

Sami Zayn has had his fair share of struggles in his Bloodline journey. At Survivor Series WarGames, Zayn proved his loyalty to the faction by delivering a low blow to Kevin Owens. Jey Uso finally accepted Zayn as part of The Bloodline as the stable celebrated their victory.
